Just for my own curiosity…how many have read the entirety of the Bible?
I ask because through my college courses and even in church it seems there are many that haven’t, or have just recently set out to do so.

I have. It gives a better understanding than you could possibly get from an hour a week in church. Pastors, just like the Pharisees, often teach their own interpretations of the truth, rather than the truth itself. The existence of various denominations is evidence that man is frequently wrong when it comes to the word of God. Every denomination believes that their truth is the only truth. That is simply not possible. There is only one truth, and it was given to us in His word.

You’re right. I see the same thing. I have. My father has read it through yearly since about 20 years before I was born. I believe it is important to see the whole story unfold in context and in the order that the early church canonized it. In NC, our IPHC ministerial credentialing board will not consider a ministerial candidate unless they have completed reading the Bible from cover to cover BEFORE they sit before the examining committee. I am ashamed to say that I did not read it through until I was in my thirties. It did give me greater understanding and appreciation for the heart of God and the scriptures He has entrusted us with.

We always seem to find time for the people we love, don’t we? God gives us so much in the bible. Can you image trying to live a victorious life in Jesus Christ without Ephesians or Galatians or the Psalms or Matthew. Or, OK you got me Gen. Ex. Lev. Nu. Deut. And what’s that other guys name Isaiah and his compadre Jeremiah? Lol

I know drunks who can quote any given scripture word for word. reading and memorizing the bible is not what is important as much as knowing/understanding and living out the truth and message of it.

Faith comes by hearing the word of God. What about illiterates? I knew a man who could not read, but he knew more scripture and truth from it than most preachers I know. What about the disciples and Apostles who did not have the bible in their day and if they did could not have read it due to be unlearned and uneducated for the most part?

I know many man and woman who learn to read from the Bible. Some were taught directly by God they claimed. And then I also know of many well literate in the Bible preachers who do social drinking like sport. Can a drunk man speak in tongues? The Bible clearly says – for these are not drunk as you may think…

I could have read it more if didnt get stuck. I been rereading Luke for a month. 7-8x. I know I’m missing something. Tenderness and gentleness it’s in there. I just know it… Happen to me last year with Galatians 7-8x then I read Romans 10:3&4 balled like a baby lol

I have disciplined myself to read through the whole bible but have never been able to make myself go back to the first ( 8 ) chapters in I Chronicles and really read them a second time. What about you; do you see a need for those chapters and if so what purpose do they serve? Then in Leviticus there is chapter after chapter telling how to butcher animals. That’s why I cringe when I hear pastors telling their people to read the whole bible when some of it would best be avoided and time spent in more productive areas.

Oh the glories of the modern age. I like what Newton said. He saw further because he stood on the shoulders of giants. In this age we should closer to God and more full of faith not less . I have Matthew Henry, the whole set, used to be four books, all of Spurgeon, Wesley, Finney, 10 translations and a Greek Hebrew dictionary that pronounced the words for me. AW. Tozer, Billy Graham ’54, tent revivalist, recordings. On my phone!!! we gotta get moving folks the fruit is falling to the ground. We have a whole crop going to spoil before our very eyes
