But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
– Matthew 6:6

When will religious people understand preaching is only a small part of the Christian life. Unless of course you dont pray or study or vote or bathe or spend time with your children. If preaching is all you know of Christ and the gospel you are willfully ignorant. The christian must have a new life and a secret place. I would say its your secret life that gives real meaning and value to your public life and any lasting fruit.
Prayer in the secret place is the intimacy and communion of the Holy Ghost. Prayer is the real root of the christian life. In prayer we come to know the revelation of Christ his glory majesty and grace. Prayer is where faith and patience is born. Temperance too and wisdom is for those that pray. Prayer is where the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and unholy desire goes to die.
We must preach Jesus Christ. Jesus and his wonderful name ought to be lifted up. The gospel must go forward that men can be saved, and our families. There is much that needs to be done. But dear friend please pray and get alone the Lord. dont get so busy doing Gods work that you lose that first love. The secret place where where the real work is done. The secret place where He is so near, His mercies so real and the liberty so free.
