MINISTRY of displacing DEMONS from their territories

No – this is not called s Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare and NO it was not discovered first by NAR…  it’s been around for a very long time Early church fathers prayed for demons to be removed from their territories of occupation Displacement MUST precede CONTROL..TOTAL CONTROL. AUTHORITY of the BELIEVER much earlier than 1989; at the same time the Welsh revival also asserts certain similar prayer methods Guess the question is do we discard it as unBiblical or do we keep on looking into it more
Demons know human beings, human.beings dont know demons and I just wonder how can an army fight an enemy they have no knowledge of..utterly impossible.

JOHN A. MACMILLAN: THE AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER (PDf)
http://www.pentecostaltheology.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/The_Authority_of_the_Believer_John_MacMillan.pdf

Nor can any believer escape this conflict, so
long as he resolutely presses forward in the
pursuit of true holiness and effective ministry. It
is part of the training of the Lord’s overcoming
people. In the Kingdom Age, Christ has
planned that they shall reign with Him from the
heavenly places over the earth. It is
consequently not strange that the principalities
and powers, who are to be dispossessed of the
seats of authority now occupied by
themselves, should savagely resist their own
displacement. These spiritual enemies oppose
every forward step of the overcomer; they will
seek to confuse his mind, sometimes drawing
him into error, or into extravagance in doctrine.
They may even attack him in body, or in
circumstances, or through his family or his
friends. This has been their method in every age, as
illustrated in the march of the hosts of Israel
towards the Promised Land. Among the
children of Israel the powers of darkness subtly
introduced “many foolish and hurtful lusts”;
they sought to seduce them by the incoming of
idolatry and fornication from the nations
around; they incited them to murmuring and
distrust of the providence of Jehovah; or they
openly and fiercely attacked them, as through
the Amalekites. In the same manner today, by
both inward and outward means, “the wiles of
the devil” are directed to the rendering fruitless
of the life and service of the individual Christian
and of the aggressive church.
Many an earnest pastor weeps before the Lord
because of coldness or disunion in his
congregation. The successful evangelist is
disturbed by some deadening influence
creeping into the atmosphere of his meetings,
by which his liberty of spirit is hampered, and
by which souls are hindered from coming to
the Savior. In many cases prayer does not
seem to touch the difficulty, even when long
continued. Nay, even prayer itself seems to be
lifeless, and God afar off. At times the enemy
strikes back swiftly when some special effort is
aimed against him. Workers break down,
sickness weakens the frame, spiritual purpose
slackens, and discouragement throws a pall

Do you ever feel as if something is watching you?You are probably right. Each time you make movements in the earth which threatens enemy camps, a demon gate watcher is assigned to you to make sure you do not finish your course. What do you do? Educate yourself about your enemy. Find out which demon gate watcher has been assigned, identify his tactic, expose him, and then displace him. Journey along with me as I show you what Holy Spirit taught me as it pertains to the ‘peeping toms’ in the spirit realm. You are bound to have an ‘eye opening’ experience that will leave you more vigilant and sober than ever before. Get ready to stop the enemy in his tracks and regain control of your life. God is about to show you something through the prophetic revelation of Displacing Demonic Gate Watchers

Seen it first time many times – the opening is there and it is almost like they are their to fill it once the old example has been displaced Never mind some dont believe it – missionaries has seen it FIRST HAND and until the demon is displaced, the house is cleaned and the spot is filled and occupied with sanctified believers they keep on coming – come to think about it what I just described is what Jesus was teaching about 7 more coming back and it turns to be worse I consulted a church on growth one time where the pastor said to me – brother its a jezebel thing – he said we have 6 they sit in a pentagon during service and one in the center directly across from the pulpit

HOW EASY it is for the church to believe and accept jezebels – i feel its important
seems you overlooked the details knowing of the spirits goes with wisdom some call it departure other displacement – As in other deliverances, This display that accompanies
the departure of the demon spirits can vary widely. In
my own experience, as soon as I would address the
demon I would feel a pressure in my throat followed by
coughing and bringing up of phlegm. There would then
be a perceptible release that the thing was out. Some
individuals are able to accomplish this with greater
confidence and aggressiveness than others. This author again supposes the power of demons is fear. It seems to me a very humanist approach. If I may id like to say the power and bondage of the devil is sin and rebellion to God. When a man is made righteous by faith in Jesus Christ the power and curse of sin is broken. And thus the deceiver and foe displaced. The burden of guilt and shame is rolled away he has assurance and liberty, joy and strength by grace through faith that is in Jesus Christ.

I don’t like demons. They smell bad. Unclean, you know. Jesus didn’t like demons either. Jesus never met a demon that He didn’t didn’t like. I like what John Osteen used to say: “If I were God, the first thing I’d do is kill the devil. Then I’d invite all the demons to his funeral, and kill them too.” Well, that’s not exactly God’s plan, but something not too far from it will happen in the end. In the mean time the solution is the forceful advance of the Kingdom of God. Wherever the Kingdom advances it displaces demon power. This happens on both a personal and societal level. Jesus was a master at casting out demons. In the healing ministry of Jesus you really see His compassion, but in His deliverance ministry you really see His authority. Demons are terrified of Jesus — and they are terrified of people full of Jesus. As well they should be.

Nor can any believer escape this conflict, so
long as he resolutely presses forward in the
pursuit of true holiness and effective ministry. It
is part of the training of the Lord’s overcoming
people. In the Kingdom Age, Christ has
planned that they shall reign with Him from the
heavenly places over the earth. It is
consequently not strange that the principalities
and powers, who are to be dispossessed of the
seats of authority now occupied by
themselves, should savagely resist their own
displacement. These spiritual enemies oppose
every forward step of the overcomer; they will
seek to confuse his mind, sometimes drawing
him into error, or into extravagance in doctrine.
They may even attack him in body, or in
circumstances, or through his family or his
friends.

Through Mental Disorders

Again, it is a mistake to say that all mental illness is directly attributable to demons. When I asked a Christian psychiatrist about the relationship between mental illness and demonic activity, she responded with her own question: “If mental disorders are the result of demonic activity, then why do the symptoms almost always disappear when treated with the right drugs?” Good question.
Our thoughts and emotions are directly traceable to a series of electrical and chemical impulses in the brain. When the brain does not function properly, drug therapy can help restore the natural balances that God intended. However, our thoughts and emotions are more than a series of electrical and chemical impulses. There’s an immeasurable, though very real, spiritual component that influences our thoughts and emotions. Positively, this spiritual component can protect us from anxiety and its attendant consequences: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

We will discuss how to apply this passage in a later chapter; my point here is that if a positive spiritual exercise like prayer can influence our thought processes by removing anxiety, then it is reasonable to conclude there are also negative spiritual influences that can seize control of our minds and emotions. While not all mental disorders are caused by external spiritual forces such as demons, some of them are.

Consider the man in Luke 8 who was controlled by numerous demons. A refusal to put on clothes, withdrawal from others, strange voices emanating from his mouth, and deep depression were symptoms that today would immediately land him in a mental hospital. Yet as soon as the demons left him, notice the immediate and radical change in his mental state and behavior: “The people went out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened. Those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon-possessed had been made well” (Luke 8:35-36).

The restoration of this man’s mental health did not require years of psychotherapy or drug treatment, because his root problem was not primarily physical or emotional, but spiritual. Please understand that I’m not condemning psychotherapy or chemical treatment. Strong biblical counsel and appropriate drug therapy are tools God can use to bring emotional healing to people. What I am suggesting is that sometimes there is also a spiritual component to mental disorders we should not ignore.

If strategic level spiritual warfare is so important, where in the New Testament is Paul, Luke, Matthew, John , or any other author written about this. Ephesians is so important on spiritual warfare but does not mention SLSW. Do territorial spirits exist? Yes. But we are to seek God and focus on Jesus, and Jesus will take care of the spiritual realm like in Daniel 10.

Steve Forsberg bro Steve this post is NOT about SLSW pls note it makes an explosive statement about that in the very beginning The OP is about McMillans mention of demonic displacement Dr Paul L. King has an excellent research on this and you may have already read it but it is worth the mention

    Paul L. King

John MacMillan did not teach direct displacement of territorial spirits through directly challenging, rebuking or commanding principalities, but rather through corporate prayer warfare.

It frightens me that it can be taken as suggesting territorial spirits and displacing principalities and powers, for which there is no Biblica example in the action or prayers of Jesus or the apostles. If it really is displacing of demons then it can be put, in my mind, on the same level of housel cleansing.

what about DANIEL fasting and praying through the demonic forces occupying political high places?

    • Reply February 10, 2020

      George Hartwell

Daniel fasted and prayed but did NOT join in the angelic battle in high places as Peter Wagner suggests we should do. Not ‘demonic’ forces by overarching princes. Daniel is a good example of how to pray repentance and stay OUT of the ‘spiritual warfare.’ In fact, there is not one Biblical example of Biblical figures binding princes of the air as those teaching ‘spiritual warfare’ suggest. There is not one apostolic prayer that addresses the principalities and powers like Peter Wagner etc. teach. Such ‘spiritual warfare’ is arrogant, disobedient and dangerous. This is an issues where misteaching has horrendous consequences that John Paul Jackson called, “The Needless Casualties of War.”

    Paul L. King

MacMillan’s approach (and that of other missionaries of his time) was not direct attack of principalities and powers as practiced by SLSW, but of prayer intercession like Daniel. He makes warnings of the dangers, similar to those of John Paul Jackson in Needless Casualties of War (though not as extensive and detailed as Jackson).

I agree Paul L. King NAR borrowed from him quite a lot BUT he still preached and believed demons must be displaced BEFORE the GOSPEL is preached or it will have no effect on foreign occult cultures which is STILL the truth today Isara Mo and Joe Absher discussed this quote a bit How do you overcome regional strongholds and release God’s blessing?

We must not be naive in tackling territorial spirits. Individuals or local prayer groups are ineffective and vulnerable if they apply the same forms of prayer used in personal ministry. See: John Paul Jackson, Needless Casualties of War.

“Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 18:18

Principalities and powers in the heavens are not bound merely by our individual proclamation. Before any group can overturn strongholds in the heavens and earth, sin needs to be bound in our lives. Be careful to only take the people, the Lord permits, when you go on spiritual warfare assignments.

By first establishing homes, churches and community prayer, the Lord deals with the enemy’s strongholds in us. The relational wisdom, experience, unity, agreement and authority gained from building the relevant community altar, forms the Body of Christ in a region. The righteousness of Christ, expressed in His church, brings down the evil spiritual forces that hold our region in blindness and bondage, and establishes and maintains the reign of the kingdom of heaven in our region.

This new teaching results in a preoccupation with evil spirits and gives too much glory to Satan. Instead of being preoccupied with God we would always be thinking about what evil spirits are up to. One danger is a power trip, a call to our pride, a rerun of the temptatation to “Be like God.”

This new teaching will teach us that whatever evil is up to our responsibility, not God’s responsibility. We take on the battle with the heavenly host. It is assumed that God wants us to do it all. This teaching fails to distinguish between our part (deliverance ministry with people on Planet Earth) and God’s part commanding the heavenly hosts to deal with territorial spirits. We try to displace Jesus and the Lord of Hosts (the heavenly Commander of angels.)

Thus much time that could have been given to prayer (being preoccupied with God) is given to “discerning” and directly attacking evil spirits (being preoccupied with evil spirits). All this attention is attractive to evil and appreciated by Satan. It is like we are Satan worshippers! God is ignored while we puff up Satan’s power. Judson Cornwall writes in “Let us Praise” of learning from the Lord that he was, accidently, leading his people in the worship of demons when they dealt with demonic interference with the song service by having eyes closed, heads bowed prayer of authority against the demonic forces.

I agree that it is not healthy to focus too much on the darkness, but I can’t say that Paula White is doing that. The is a balance. Using our spiritual authority against evil spirits can be done as needed without preoccupying us. And, I’m not sure that territorial spirits are limited only God’s part, considering Eph. 6 statement that our flight is against principalities and powers, etc.

Troy Day One example from the 80’s. I had been reading about the extermination of the Eriez Indians by the Seneca, and how the Native Americans saw the blood-drenched land where the City of Erie and the surrounding region are today as cursed. And, for a century there wasn’t a single human inhabitant. The Lord showed me that that curse wasn’t fully broken, and a group of us were led to go out to the Presque Isle peninsula nature preserve across the bay and overlooking the city. We found an isolated wooded area bayside, worshiped for a while, then commanded the curse to be broken and demonic influences to leave.

That year, for the first time, churches that the previously resisted started coming together for prayer. Several weeks later I got a good job after two years trying. There were other positive signs as well. I don’t think the job was fully accomplished, but was indeed partially effective.

We actually knew little about territorial spirits, and were mostly familiar with individual deliverance, but, we had followed the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Neil Steven Lawrence we’ve spoken with this with Isara Mo and others back in the day Peter Vandever who has served as a missionary may confirm as well Basically this hero of the faith writes that in China and other Asian countries they had to FIRST pray and fast to DISPLACE the local demons before the Gospel can be preached I have experienced this myself years ago in the area – preached for 2 weeks straight to a multitude Sermons went to like a wall before them and never reached UNTIL we started praying for displacing demons and only then the message reached the people effectively

Phillip went to preach the gospel to a demonic stronghold where a sorcerer named Simon was the strongman.
The man had literally owned the minds of everyone in that city by his sorcery such that they whole city glorified him as the power of the Most High..
But when Phillip came to that city power changed hands. Did he displace the demons in that area which gave Simon the sorcerer such a hold on the city’s population?. I really can’t say directly that he did but by inference I can say YES he did. Just look at what the scripture says//
When the crowds heard Philip and saw the SIGNS he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. So there was great joy in that city.
      Acts 8:6‭-‬8 NIV//
Phillip preached Christ and signs followed and there was a great deliverance in that city from the strongman of witchcraft. If Simon was not displaced by Phillips ministry he could still have a hold on the city..
The heroes of faith did the right thing by fasting and praying before storming a stronghold. The fast and prayers makes demons loose their grip..loose their hold.
Satanic blockages to gospel is not new thing. You remember the case of Elymas the sorcerer in Acts 13 who blocked the proconsul Sergio Paulos from hearing the WORD. It is said Elymas wanted to turn away Sergio from the faith. It was only by a supernatural act of judgement on Elymas that the gospel could reach Sergio.
Displacing or dislodging or dismantling a demonic hold over a person or an area is paramount to having an easy transmission of the WORD..
Because demons know who is a true servant or a strong or weak servant of God they can sometimes be very stubborn when protecting their strongholds..
So the displacement task or job is not for novices or amateurs of the art.
Jesus said something about binding the strongman and disarming him and then taking the spoils. The displacement theology fits this scenario like a jigsaw puzzle.

There is a misconception among many. preachers and teachers alike that demons scamper when they see an annointed man of God..
I wish it was that simple because we wouldn’t have demons in our worship and praise services.
They don’t just show off but they fight back most of the times, resist swear, and threaten..but will give in eventually.
It is not about show off but about protecting territorial rights..
Jesus said when they (unclean spirits) go out of a man they will come back… Until they are certain that territory is no longer theirs they will continue to show off..
