When you look at the church today which word describes it best: “flabby” or “vigilant”?
If you were to describe the church as an army (and it is supposed to be) – is the role of pastor more like a tank or a bunker? – A general or a medic?

In my growth as a believer, I have learned the dangers of talking about “the Church” in broad categories. Even the churches in Revelation which were relatively geographically close together could not be generalized in the way we American Christians tend to do today.

While I voted for Trump, I am deeply saddened at his conduct. Yes, he can make sharp business decisions for our country, but as a leader his conduct is shameful and inexcusable. He is a bully, while we seek to help children who are victims of bullying, his behavior is deplorable. I’m sick of hearing, ” well, he is not pastor in chief” , no he is not, thank God, yet the exact same word of God that ministers teach and tell the body to submit to is to be the same for Trump. His belittling people, his continued downgrading and naming calling people like an angry spoiled little brat. He is unable to control himself, bringing shame to Christ. He can not lead, he is only able to bully people and run rough shod over them . impeach him, no, for what he has done every politician is just as guilty. Censure him, absolutely, he has knowingly stirred up physical violence in this nation, and yet many Christians act just like him now and think he is God in the flesh. Yes, I have to vote for him agian, but I do so with a heavy , frustrated heart. Thank God for Mike Pence, a true leader, Christian, and gentleman.

Scott Markley Trump went bankrupt 4 or 5 times and I heard some businessmen interviewed say he’s not at all as business savvy as he claims, therefore, I’d be concerned at the long term consequences of his policies… and I’m not sure he’s had any real direct significant effect on the present economy.

Didn’t read the article on the OP, sorry.
But I’ll briefly say:
Prayer in School: the government cannot interfere with that, according to the Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”
As far as prayer in public school, I think:
(a) it should up to each state.
(b) Christians will need to tolerate non-Christian prayers.
As far as the March for Life, all I know is that it is pro-life and anti-abortion. I’m for it.

I think the , the Lord will make a way. I remember one girl that got so full of the Holy Ghost , they had to carry her to the car. They said when she got home. She was still was under the Holy Ghost so strong. , I think they still had to carry her in. Or she was still Speaking In Tongues. I’ve seen God move in great ways. I do not believe Trump is GOD’s man in it The Church IS and NOT the church that readily shuts down under order + cares little about evangelical values in their political vote + agrees to NOT having more than 50 in church – agrees to old ppl NOT coming to church – is fine with children NOT having children church + has not a care about an upcoming mandatory medical surveillance via bio-radio vaccine Such church is no other but the lukewarm Laodicea from Revelation
I side with William DeArteaga on the prayer of revival – We need to pray for revival. The present crisis triggered by the police murder by chocking of George Floyd demonstrates the spiritual bankruptcy of the secular state, and its inability to bring spiritual vocabulary into the issue and resolution. The policeman’s act was a crime/sin – period. But the violence of the crowd in looting and burning was a sinful and criminal reaction also. The secular state and media want to call riots and looting the product of frustration, but this avoids the spiritual issue, reduces man to an automaton and makes governance impossible. All churches must come to prayer and preach the Gospel that all men are sinful and need to repent.
BUT
If you reopen your buildings for worship services and people show up, will they like the experience and want to come back? I think this is going to be a stretch…especially for people you are trying to reach. I’m imagining this scenario:
First you need to go make a reservation on our website. When you arrive on our campus, you’ll need to be escorted to your seat. We’ll need to get your contact information to track you down in case someone is here with the virus. You’ll need to wear this mask. You have to sit six feet apart from everyone else in this big room which will be about 20 percent full. Your kids will need to sit with you through this entire service that is designed for adults because we can’t open our kids environments at this point. When the service is over, please leave promptly and return to your cars while avoiding contact with other people.
It sounds delightful.
Again, I have to ask, is this the wisest use of your resources (time, leadership, volunteers, money, energy, etc.) during this season? Or, would the Kingdom return on investment be better if you focused on your digital ministry strategy and the long-term shifts you’ll need to make to effectively carry out your mission and vision once this crisis is behind us.
I totally understand. There are places in this big world that have very few cases and a much lower risk. For you, feel free to ignore this article…for now.
But the reality is that Covid-19 is accelerating shifts that were happening across culture well before the virus showed up. That’s going to impact businesses, education (especially universities and colleges), non-profits and churches.
