Calvin places Cornilius among the old fathers who hoped for salvation. Other interesting notes on free-will are included by Calvibn in the annotation of the Geneva Bible https://books.google.bg/books?id=Sn_8bOFlzDoC&pg=PA60&lpg=PA60&dq=calvin+on+salvation+cornelius&source=bl&ots=agopUl8KZl&sig=MCb5lIYmSzxvPZLsj991M7D66jY&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAWoVChMI2aHLu6HSxwIVA3IUCh1Lcwd6#v=onepage&q=calvin%20on%20salvation%20cornelius&f=false

I can accept your sourcing and I suspected that Calvin would be wrong on this as does his modern contemporary followers.

Calvin was wrong [period] TULIP is a heresy. Eternal Security will send more people to hell than we can imagine

Charles Page [08/30/2015 11:19 PM]
TULIP was a product of Holland not Geneva -the perseverance espoused by Calvinist will send more people to Hell but it will not see any of God’s elect cast into the lake of fire.

I’m sure that went over your head!!!

Charles Page I am think that you need to do some research on the ELECT. I get the impression that you might think that you are among a special group of people who set for Heaven with no ability to change course. OR maybe you think someone else is is this group not you. EITHER Way This is not the conclusion that I have come to when studying the Elect. Please study some more. And I will also in a few weeks lets post a discussion page ?

I believe in the election of God before the foundation of the world was laid. I am confident of your and mine election. I believe that election is of an innumerable multitude of people. As always I continue to study and don’t plan to cease studying. None of us reach a place where we can cease studying and the possibility of further discussions is exciting!!!

The gr. verb ‘katalambano’ translated foundation, means fall – since the fall of the world. How do you place the Greek text of the Bible in your pre-election theology which you say you subscribe to?

Jesus Christ’s redeeming work made it possible for EVERYONE to be saved but did NOT actually SECURE the salvation of anyone. Although Christ died for ALL human and for everyone, ONLY those who believe on Him are saved. His death enabled God to forgive sinners on the condition that they believe, and God actually puts away everyone’s sins. We are NOT sinner saved by Grace!!!!! We WERE a Sinner but Now we are saved by grace!!! Christ’s redemption becomes effective only if man chooses to accept it. …… Particular Redemption or Limited Atonement Christ’s redeeming work was intended to save the elect only and actually secured salvation for them. IS NOT THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD. Jesus death was a substitutionary endurance of the penalty of sin in the place of ALL sinners. In addition to putting away the sins of who people who will repent. Christ’s redemption secured everything necessary for everyone’s salvation, including faith which unites them to Him. The gift of faith is infallibly applied by the Spirit to all for whom Christ died, therefore guaranteeing their salvation The Holy Spirit Can Be Effectually ResistedThe Spirit draws evenone to Christ inwardly all those who are called outwardly by the gospel invitation; He does all that He can to bring every sinner to salvation. But inasmuch as man has the ability to choose, he can successfully resist the Spirit’s call. The Spirit will not regenerate the sinner until he believes; faith (which is man’s contribution) precedes and makes possible the new birth. Thus, man’s ability to choose limits the Spirit in the application of Christ’s saving work. The Holy Spirit will only draw to Christ those who allow Him to have His way with them. Until the sinner responds, the Spirit will give life. God’s grace, therefore, is not invincible; it can be, and often is, resisted and thwarted by man. The Efficacious Call of the Spirit or Resistible GraceIn addition to the outward general call to salvation which is made to everyone who hears the gospel, the Holy Spirit extends to the us a special inward call that inevitably brings them to salvation. The eternal call (WHICH IS MADE TO ALL WITHOUT DISTINCTION) can be, and often is, REJECTED; YES THE INTERNAL CALL can be REJECTED; it should result in conversion, sadly some people REJECT Him.
