sanctification is rooted in regeneration and unlike the new birth it has positional and practical aspects. It is progressive and conditional. Partaking of the divine promises requires a quickened person who freely exercise his will. The child of God can resist the will of God. The unregenerate (Eph 2:1) cannot resist.

Marx wasn’t a Marxist either but he certainly did promote the basic ideas his followers prescribed to him. Calvin believed God’s sovereignty always trumped our free will.
