WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump on Wednesday suspended all travel from Europe to the United States for 30 days starting on Friday in order to fight the coronavirus.

Trump said the travel restrictions did not apply to the United Kingdom. He did not provide a list of countries but said simply the restrictions applied to all of Europe.

The president, who faces re-election in November, took the dramatic step in a somber Oval Office speech as he battles to address the health and economic shocks to Americans and responds to mounting criticism that he has underplayed the threat from the mushrooming coronavirus crisis.

“We are marshalling the full power of the federal government and the private sector to protect the American people,” he said.

“This is the most aggressive and comprehensive effort to confront a foreign virus in modern history.”

As the U.S. stock market took another hit from the virus on Wednesday, Trump said he would take emergency action to provide financial relief for workers who are ill, quarantined or caring for others due to the illness.

correction Trump said the halt on travel from Europe would not include the United Kingdom, and that there would be “exemptions for Americans who have undergone appropriate screenings.”

Troy Day since 1993 we have lived here most of the time and only return to the states every 2 1/2 years for about six or seven months to do fundraising. We are not scheduled to return until July 2021 when my son Joshua will enter Lee University. By that time the coronavirus will be gone or Jesus will have come… No worries here… We have plenty of toilet paper!

Here is a good article regarding this nonsense. While I don’t agree with the part about vaccinations, the rest is pretty on point.

Troy Day it’s basically just medical information and statistics. Every one that’s reading this has had the coronavirus multiple times in their life. All it is is the upper respiratory viral infection that you get that is not the flu. All this panic I believe is just a test run to see if the sheeple are ready for socialism. The way some of these low IQ people are making runs on the grocery stores buying a toilet paper proves that at least some are ready for it. If you go to the stores in rural areas there is none of this ridiculous panic. It is only in the major metropolitan areas where people have been conditioned to more control over their lives that this nonsense is going on.

Jared Cheshire In summary 30,000 people died from the flu last year. Another 30,000 died in car accidents. but SO WHAT – we still have a marshal ban on flights imposed

The only thing that would prevent that is for everyone to quit freaking out over a non-issue.

Jared Cheshire that will not open flights to EU no more than freaking out will BUT you still have marshal law before elections 🙂

Troy Day I saw meme about that earlier. All we have to do is say that the elections will be suspended because of the coronavirus and that Trump will serve four more years automatically in the media will instantly quit their panic campaign and it will all be over. LOL

Troy Day I don’t care about watching the NBA either, it is just the modern Roman circus. I actually think it could a good thing that sporting events are canceled for a time. It may help people concentrate on things that actually matter, like their need of God. It’s just an extremely stupid reason to cancel stuff.

Yep, I noticed. Wonder if anyone is going to vote? Wouldn’t be surprised if Trump calls an emergency to suspend voting and extend his term as POTUS… then we’ll really be in the dumps. He’s the absolutely worse person to lead this country is such crisis… in any crisis for that matter.

I have no idea what I’m defending Trump about. Besides, I live a pretty simple economic life with just a checkbook and savings account, so any talk further than that and you lost me; so I’m not much of a competent conversationist on the economy. I just pay my bills and hope for the best…

Troy Day Clinton presided over the globalization of the world economy. Since his time things have become much more complex. Economics is not the result of one player anymore.
It is amazing how much “market confidence“ and “consumer confidence“ determines economic security and performance in the globalized economy. (con-fide —with-faith)

It’s easy to see how the 666 economic system will be installed.

One little bug can do all this, what about the disappearance of 400 million Christians and all the world babies and the appearance of a man claiming to be God and possessed by Satan himself?

The horrors of the Great Tribulation are easy to project…

My undergrad at Florida State University is in Economics.
