Should Christians today keep the Sabbath?

I hope all the people who answer NO to your little poll are right… I really, really do. Because if they are wrong that means that they are breaking God’s Law. On the flip side, if those who say YES are wrong, they are simply worshiping God and following His commandment on a day that no longer matters, and what’s the harm in that? NONE.

Wouldnt it be great if people would read the new testament and realize they are not jews and quit trying to bring the church under bondage.

Had a friend start down this road awhile back. Its taken a few years but now she believes the new testament is a fraud and that jesus really didnt claim to be God. Good thing they keep the sabbath though. Wouldnt want them to go to hell (rolls eyes)

The old covenant is fulfilled. Why would anyone continue to pay on a mortgage that was paid off?

Hebrews and Galatians are both very strong in that Christians are NOT to reenter the bondage of the Law. The sabbath was part of the old covenant.
Those who subject themselves to the old (fulfilled) covenant must remember that it was unlawful to kindle a fire on the sabbath or to travel more than a sabbath day’s journey (roughly 1,000 yards). This means no cranking a car, traveling more than 1,000 yards on Saturday, and no using the heat or air conditioner, since they require the use of electricity. In fact, that also means no light bulbs and no TV.
Paul and the writer of Hebrews would not subject themselves (or us) to the old covenant.

Everything in the OT predates the Cross which abolished everything prior and put us into the heretofore unknown New Covenant – the Age of Grace – the Age of the Spirit – the Age of the Church – the Age of the New Man – this is basic – prior to the Law Circumcision existed but Galatians Colossians Romans Acts all teach that we are beyond the law of circumcision – same – these are first principles – Hebrews 6 – no law

Tom has stated his position. I’ve stated mine. We’ve each given reasons why we take the position we do. Let the readers consider and choose for themselves, but if one chooses the Law AND the cross…no operation of vehicles on Saturday.

Like I often say, if your theology is to justify in any way a rejection of instructions in the Bible, you BETTER be right. OR you can just obey the Bible and live in the freedom of not having to worry about it.

“For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His” (Hebrews 4:10).
“So let no one judge you in […] sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ” (Colossians 2:16-17).
“Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28).
