In Genesis 43:34, we learn that Benjamin was served five times as much food as his brothers were.
Later, in Gen. 45:22, we read that Joseph, instead of giving Benjamin "a change" of clothes, as he did his other brothers, gave him five changes of clothes (as well as 300 pieces of silver).
Is there any significance to the number five in these two passages of Genesis? Might there also be a connection with David’s choice of five smooth stones against Goliath many years later? Thank you.
