figured someone will say that; It’s like someone asking who built your church and you say Jesus. What was the last thing Jesus told you about your church leadership today?
Troy Day All men are Brothers, the idea that anyone would exhalt one as the leader is contrary to the message of Jesus. I knew a man years ago who was a mighty man of God. He never went to Seminary, never wrote a book most folks called him “Cowboy Charlie” but he spent time with the Lord Jesus and could teach most of the “Leaders” you would think of much about how to serve. I recall Jesus sayin something about the way to be great was to be a servant.
– Barna is OLD school and old news
– Pew Research has been said to be not conservative or republican
– John Maxwell made his money to retire
– Ed Stedzer speaks of Pentecostal growth with wonder but is needed Pentecostal nor has spend a single day in missions to have the street credit to speak about it
– Michael Hyatt is getting more and more corporate leadership oriented than anything to do with the Christian Church
Who is left out there?
Who do you learn from on how to lead a large group of people (given your church is over 200-300 people)?
The most humble person I can find at the time. But honestly the Bible says everything you need to know about how to administer the operation of the Church.
the Bible also says everything you need to know about how to administer the operation of a country, but… my question was more about an author or expert who is out there teaching the Church know-how
As Charlie used to say, “An Ex is a has been and a spurt, well that’s just a drip under pressure. In short the First Century Church handled things on the local level, and it should be the same today. God so loved the world, that He DIDN’T send a committee.
Pastors who listen to the Lord are much better than those who listen to committee. Let me give you an example, the Assembly of God used to teach on Holiness, and had a Bible based dress code. But a few years ago they abandoned the Bible in favor of a more Social accepted message.
Troy Day Funny how many churches are led by “Resolution” and how few remain true to the Word of God. Resolutions are easily changed but, the Word of God remains forever.
Yes and the leaders in Yarushalom, had walked with Jesus, remember that it was a committee that changed baptism from the way the Apostles directed. They used Matthew 28, even though it contradicts EVERY instance of Baptism in the Book of Acts.
Show me chapter and verse. As for your question I have this to say. Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Proverbs 26:4.
I’m not inclined to trifle with the ponderings of foolishness.
Troy Day have you no response? Psalms 118:8 may have what you are looking for…It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Or Ps. 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
So your answer is cherry picking verses and throwing them out of context 🙂 Well, if church leadership is foolishness for you I really have not much to add except such is the reason for the failing church today Pre-historic thinking with NO Spirit leadership
Can you trust someone with 0 training to come and manage your finances just because the Lord told them so? But you would entrust someone with caring for human souls with 0 training? This is no short of a cult Ricky Grimsley Even David said he dealt with the bear and the lion before he was entrusted with Israel in 1 Sam 17 http://churchinfluence.com/
The Holy Spirit is the teacher in things of the Church, not any man. Look how many people Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Oral Roberts, and a host of others led astray because they allowed the focus to be on them. Finances and driving 18 wheelers are in a different category. If you do not see that I pity you. So you keep following men and I will keep being led by the Spirit of God.
Sure! I can add to your list Benny Hinn, Rod Parsley, John Hagee, Jonathan Cahn and so many. Yet the same Holy Spirit says in Hebrews 13:7
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
1Corinthians 3:4, For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal.
You go ahead and follow whoever you want I will follow Jesus.

You should say “on church leadership.” Otherwise people are going to say Christ or God, and they may still say that.

I don’t see a contradiction in them but rather identical each other.

So T.K. how would you look at a person that comes to you and says the Lord told me how to drive a semi? Would you trust him/her behind the wheel ?
