It’s guidance and language not possession.

Not only can he but a person does have control over body and speech under the Spirit of the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

Charisma magazine reports scientific evidence that shows the brain’s function as the Holy Spirit moves the speech patterns when speaking in tongues. They report “science now proves this lack of control over your tongue.” http://www.pentecostaltheology.com/scientific-speach-patterns-in-speaking-in-tongues/

doesnt the Bible say: as GOD gave them utterance (instead of as their mind produced) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZbQBajYnEc

Troy Day Yes Scripture does say the Spirit gave them the utterance… BUT it was “they” who did the speaking and this act of speaking in tongues by the unction of the Holy Spirit is indeed “subject” to those doing the speaking. Acts 2:4 And THEY were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave THEM utterance. Paul taught that the person being given an utterance was in control in the exercise of that gift as they themselves could be silent when the surroundings called for it. 1 Corinthians 14:28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God…. So the idea of a “lack of control” is completely un-biblical and thereby un-spiritual.
