I just wonder what the point is of adding to scripture? I’m not denying demonic activity, but the more we attribute specific sins to demons then our responsibility to those specific sins weakens. At some point, humans need to admit blame.

You are making a good point but not about sin. Temptation is where demonic activities occur to tempt and draw believers into sinning. It has been the case since the Garden of Eden.

I never seen any of those “spirits” in the Bible. I seen a spirit if harlotry, a spirit of slumber, a spirit of error, a lying spirit, and I seen a spirit of truth, a spirit if grace and supplication, a spirit of might, a spirit of wisdom and revelation. I don’t know why folks gotta add to the Bible. Like it’s not enough. I saw one, “we need a spirit of repentance” I know we have a doctrine of repentance a command to repent and plenty of practical applications of repentance in the Bible. So why not work with the Bible the way it’s written. By the way there never would have been a Jezebel without an Ahab.

I figured such a loose definition of church would be offensive. Doesn’t change the fact people need help and Jesus can help them. If you mean by church as a living body of believers, I can understand that. It’s simple enough. Not to be provocative but i don’t go to a “closed” church. Inner city gospel ministry is not so rigid.

Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
According to her works and her children and her lovers of adultery did Christ consider her a follower of His.
Did He not tell her and all of them to repent?
And it was Thyatira not Pregamum.

I have just been thinking about some of my posts. Some are what I would call of a personal nature. Not at all scholarly or “professional.” So the question becomes, how much personal information is too much information?
First while the scripture tells us temptation, (or trial or struggle) is common to man and that no one is unique in this. We have to know in general our experience is. This the majesty of God though he dwells on high he regards the lowly. He knows our state. The tragedies the success the bravado and the whispers. So I ask as humbly as I can please be gracious. And I will improve also. I’ll do my best to contribute something meaningful but I don’t claim any special revelation. I have unlearned alot since Bible school days. I sometimes miss it. But the people I am most effective never heard of Strong’s or Vines. When I was growing up the righteous brothers was a band not the body of Christ. In short thank you to the pastor’s and theologians present for your hard work, studies, and patience. Maybe a little mercy too? Have fun stay safe and give God the glory in every thing!!!

Just to be clear, I am looking and praying for those who need deliverance to come and sit on the pews of the church I pastor. What Troy is obviously referring to is the “Church”, that which has been built in the hearts of those who have been redeemed…again, it is impossible to be the possession of Christ and still be possessed by an uncouth demon spirit. You can’t align that with the scripture…it won’t fly…

Pastor Troy, If i am physically charged by anyone, I am well-trained in how to take them down…however, the Holy Ghost clearly defines these boundaries for anyone who is walking in the Spirit. We don’t see with physical eyes when things are to be spiritually discerned. Been through this many times…not a novice 🙂

Arent believers the church? When did the church became a building? Are we okay with worshiping in a building with uncast demons? I once preached in a Masonic lodge turned a Pentecostal church. Instead of removing the stain glass window with the masonic lodge symbol (which would have been expensive) they just painted over with black paint. Still during preaching at high noon when the sun would come through the window the shadow of the symbol would cast upon the pulpit.
7 Indian chiefs showed up for service drunk coming from being in their spiritual lodge for days. As soon as the Gospel was preached they started screaming and shouting uncontrollably. As the power of God took control and the demons were commanded to leave all 7 came down on their knees screaming “We bow to no man ; We bow to no man” Naturally they bowed to God Almighty and were delivered. As it turns they were faithful members for many years of both this church and the local Catholic church as well. But their demons were never challenged by the Gospel and if they were it was left at challenge but not bound, cast out and delivered

We have challenges like anybody else. Some times it’s an open challenge some times it’s a beer can in the men’s room. Like i said though, people need help and Jesus can help them. Chad Macdonald Troy Day and I have occasionally discussed ‘the Jezebel spirit’. I know people who believe the Jezebel spirit was at work at this or that.
Like I pointed out to Troy Day, the Jezebel spirit is not mentioned in scripture. Jezebel was human and like other humans, would have had a spirit, but Revelation 2 mentions ‘that woman Jezebel’, not a spirit, but most likely a false prophetess (or prophetess gone astray into libertine false teaching) whose ‘children’ were her followers. She taught people to commit fornication and to eeat meat offered to idols.
The similarity with the Old Testament figure was the face that the Canaanite worship she promoted would have involved sex rituals in addition to eating meat offered to idols. Usually, I hear the ‘Jezebel spirit’ used to refer to controlling behavior or opposing prophets, since Jezebel seemed to have too much control over her husband to promote evil, acted without his authorization though he was king, and had prophets killed. But ‘Jezebel spirit’ can also be used as a kind of ‘spectral evidence’ against influential people in the congregation who don’t go along with the pastors agenda, or by people in the congregation against the pastor when they don’t have anything concrete to accuse him of.
One of my concerns with the Charismatic movement in particular is the fact that a lot of the teachings seem to expand, as one teacher hears teachings from another teacher and adds a little to it, without giving much in depth Bible study– sometimes– i the sermons. Fads go through, but also settle down as established doctrine.
The end-time wealth transfer is treated as a fact. The Jeebel spirit is treated ass doctrine. One Charismatic I interacted with thought the Jezebel spirit might be more powerful than Satan, a spirit not even mentioned in the Bible.
I think it is helpful to point out that some doctrines and teachings, like the idea of their being a ‘spirit of Jezebel’ is claimed on contemporary believers claiming to have revelation, and not on the scripture.
