I would agree with Storms, as the author of the original post did.
My first tongues, when I was baptized in the Holy Ghost, sounded much like Spanish. But since then, it has changed. It will flip from language to language while I’m praying. sometimes, it sounds like a tonal oriental language, and then suddenly it will change to something like Italian or Latin. Sometimes, it sounds like an African tongue, and then it will at times sound German. I think I’ve prayed in about 10 very different languages. As I switch subjects as I’m praying, it can switch to a new language. I don’t know why God does this, but it helps me stay on my knees longer. 🙂

actually mine sounds like an unknown tongue. Someone ask me to speak in tongues for them (they were Southern Baptist) I spoke for them and they said it seems to be a language and not just gibberish. It was unknown to both of us.

I think the apostles were speaking aramaic. People just heard in their own language. As far as now i heard all kinds of different sound stuff.

No. the Scriptures say first of all that they all SPOKE in other tongues. Acts 2:4

Secondly, all the devout Jews spoke Hebrew.
Tongues were not needed to communicate the gospel on that day of Pentecost. How do I know?

This is the crowd that obeyed the law, going to Jerusalem to keep the feasts. That was the crowd that Pilate had in mind, when he ordered the plaque over Jesus head to be inscribed in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. Hebrew for the Jews, Greek for the scholarly crowd, and Latin for the Romans.

      Need more proof?
When Paul was captured and put in chains in Jerusalem, he turned on the steps of the praetorium, to address the crowd. And when he spoke in HEBREW, they kept a great silence. (Acts 22:2) And that was during the Pentecost feast. (Acts 20:16) Same crowd, different year.

Tongues weren’t necessary to preach the gospel on the Day of Pentecost.
Peter did not preach in tongues.
The crowd didn’t have to hear in tongues, either.

      They all understood Hebrew.

Here is what happened…Acts 2:6-12 KJVS
[6] Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. [7] And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? [8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? [9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, [10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, [11] Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. [12] And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

Ricky Grimsley back up and read the middle phrase of verse 4. The miracle was not in the hearing, but in the speaking.

And then go read verse 18. The tongues were a form of prophecy, since it was understood by those around…
By taking the stance that it was a miracle of hearing, instead of speaking, you are saying God gave the gift of hearing-in-tongues to unbelievers, instead what it says: He gave the gift of speaking in tongues, to the believers.

My anti-Pentecostal sister came to my house one day and asked if she could put “these tongues of mine” to the test. I said sure! Why not? so we both got down on our knees, and she asked me to pray in tongues… then she asked the spirit by which I was speaking, who Jesus was.

Suddenly, the Holy Ghost EXPLODED from my mouth!
“Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Most Blessed, Most Holy forever!”

    She still wasn’t satisfied.

Is Paul speaking hypothetically in 1 corin 13:1? Were angels tongues ever given to anyone?

I don’t believe Paul was speaking hypothetically.
Some people have had the privilege when they speak in an unknown tongue of a person telling them what language they spoke in.
I do not give out many messages in tongues, but I do know I have been used with the gift of divers or diversity of tonguers. I have been told I speak in two different languages that I do not know.
Yes I do believe in tongues of angels or else Apostle Paul under the anointing of the Holy Ghost would not have mentioned it.
No one can answer the question truthfully that they have given a message in tongues of the language of an angel.
The angels that are mentioned in the Bible seem to communicate with the people in their own language.
Many years ago after I received the Baptism of the Holy GHost, I asked God that if he used me to give a message in tongues to let me have more than one language and I know that prayer has been answered.
I have had one thing that has puzzled me through the years.
I hear people give out a message in tongues in different services, but they use the same syllables over and over again..
One of the mysteries about the Gifts Of The Spirit I do not understand.

Yes, but others Scotty Searan mentions “messages in tongues”. Are angel tongues messages from God, aka Roland Buck “Angels On Assignment” aka naming angels analogies.

We know the ones are of angels – the other ones we dont know what they are of Does this make angel tongues known? Terry
