WHAT is the ASSEMBLIES of GOD position on SANCTIFICATION today? Do we still teach it in our schools and churches anymore?

The Assemblies of God (AG), officially the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, is a group of over 140 autonomous but loosely associated national groupings of churches which together form the world’s largest Pentecostal denomination

I remember struggling with sanctification and getting a good understanding of it. I asked as many older ministers as I could and not only did I get different answers from each of them, when the did explain it the didn’t seem to have a confident grasp of it

I see it as a second work of grace.

Typically my understanding was that COG saw it as a definitive work with the person progressing afterwards and AOG saw it as a progressive work. I’ve come to believe it is a triune work. Santification of spirit at salvation (spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are the children of God), Santification of soul subsequent to salvation (renewing of the mind etc) and lastly sanctification (redemption) of body at resurrection.

I see it as a whole event happening at once and wholly. But I don’t see it at the moment of salvation, I see it as a second work of grace.

I understand. That’s how I was taught. What do you believe happens then and what is the result?

regrettably many/most Pentecostals dont know sanctification from a hole in the wall
