Don’t be stupid… Of course the pope didn’t say atheists can go to heaven. His words are being taken out of context.

During a homily in Rome last May, Francis said that God redeems everyone — not just Christians, but atheists, as well. “We must meet one another doing good,” the pope said. To those who say: ” ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ ” the pope said, “But do good: We will meet one another there.” So, was the pope saying that people can go to heaven, even if they don’t believe in God? Anyone who still believes that the pope speaks for God needs to have their head examined.

the major media rephrased his words, if I remember correctly. Check out catholic rebuttals. Protestants have had their share in making false propaganda.

Its not like that is the only stuff he has said.

I’m not a Roman-Catholic but often I think: many Protestants don’t get it, that’s why they became Protestants and they made up a Roman-Catholicism in their minds, to justify their own errors.

Tom Tom Except if Catholics have recently denied purgatory, the Pope can promise heaven to anyone he would like – before or after purgatory

So we made up that if you dont believe in the bodily assumption of mary you could be excommunicated? Did i make up that catholics pray to dead saints? Did i make up that priests believe they can absolve sins and punish people with penance. Did i make up the ridiculous heresy that someone can bless the eucharist and it actually turns in to the literal body and blood of my savior even though we are strictly forbidden to drink blood?
