The Simple Gospel

How distracted we become when we take our eyes off Jesus. Lucifer loves to mess with Christians. How many Christians have fallen by the wayside, consumed with the unimportant and the trivial. How very large and important can the peripheral appear in the light of Lucifer.

You are a sinner, lost and bound for an eternity in Hell. Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God, died on a cross and shed his Blood for your sin. He was made sin for you, in order that you, through him, might become the righteousness of God. This salvation is offered freely but you must accept the conditions…
• You must believe.
• You must repent.
• You must agree with him that you are a helpless sinner.
• You must take up your cross.
• You must follow him.
• You must endure to the end.

If you are saved, the doctrine of “Once saved, always saved,” is a stupid peripheral… No one who is saved asks how much sin they can get away with and still go to Heaven… Such questions are unthinkable to the man with a cross on his back and his eyes fixed on Jesus.

No saved person would ever consider grace as a license to sin. Hyper-Grace is an offence to the one who loves God. Grace is what saved that man from Hell. Grace is what made him pure. Grace is what set him free from the power of sin… grace could never be permission to live a lifestyle that is offensive to the God who saved him.

My friend Jim, is not consumed with the idea that I must call him James because his mother did. Jesus is not concerned that you call him Yeshi because his mother did or Yeshua because the Rabbi did… The man who is in love with Jesus knows that his Savior is not concerned with such trivia…

The fellow with the cross worn blisters on his back does not worry about the Ten Commandments and he has no illusion that he has the power to keep any of them. That cross tends to get heavy and you find that you are staring at Jesus… You cannot commit adultery or kill your neighbor with a cross on your back and your eyes fixed on Jesus… You never think about the Law or it’s consequences. You think about Jesus, you go where Jesus goes and you do what Jesus does… It ain’t words on a rock, it is the Rock of your Salvation. Your Sabbath is not a day but a man… you rest in Jesus and you carry on…

It is hard to be consumed with the shape of the earth… the road to Heaven goes straight up and it is covered with the blood of the saints… Your back will bleed under the weight of that cross…

Jesus is concerned with the salvation of your neighbors and family. If you follow him, that burden will pass to your shoulders…

If your mind is filled with trivia, you will not care for the souls around you. You will not love God or your neighbor… Distraction is such a powerful weapon of the enemy…

When you realize just how naked, sinful, and dirty you are, you will cling to the cross and fix your eyes on Jesus… The Hymnwriter wrote, “Wash me Savior lest I die…” when you understand that, deep within your soul, the rest of the garbage will fade away…

Nothing but the Blood… Nothing but the Blood.

David…
