Do you agree with this statement?
“When your support of people overrides your Biblical convictions, you have a soul tie to a political spirit.”

Tim Anderson [06/08/2015 9:15 PM]
Quick answer is No, But I think that in this life it will be necessary to err on the side of compassion, that means sometimes we will err. I base this on the Principal given in Romans 14 & 15 of living in harmony with others.
Romans 15:1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” 4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” (ESV)

Charles Page [06/08/2015 10:12 PM]
agree!

Tim Anderson to the person “who knows to do good and does it not, to him it is sin” James 4:17
How would the early believers Peter, Paul, James and others view the spiritual compromisers of today?

Tim Anderson [06/09/2015 10:27 PM]
Thank God for grace then, because none of us “always” does what is good if we strictly interpret the verse.

Joe Fiorentino [06/09/2015 11:04 PM]
Its not a “strict” interpretation. That is the definition of sin. As long as we continue to ignore Romans 8 and settle for “none of us always does what is good”, then we’ll always seek a loose interpretation.

John Ruffle [06/10/2015 2:06 AM]
Depends on what you mean by “support”. I can come to the aid of as Moslem without agreeing with his or her religeon. I dialogue with a Hindu friend on a regular basis. I agree with him on many points. But I keep my Christ-centred distinctive, and he knows it. I’m trusitng god for the Holy Spirit to draw him as he is drip-fed the Gospel of Jesus.

John Kissinger [06/10/2015 7:16 AM]
Does it depend on your political convictions?

Alan N Carla Smith [06/12/2015 11:16 PM]
Tim Anderson yes sir Thank God for HIS grace and mercy. Amen

I believe the church , many has seeming lost their first love. Many are waking up. We need to get back to being spraying and worshipping Church. The Bible tells us to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Of course this doesn’t mean just at church. We sure need more worship more in church.

I hadn’t heard of being friends with the posters. I do hit all those numbers and it takes me to the next page. But I don’t think I’m revered to anything. I just look it up in the Bible , except today’s. I was just giving my opinion. I didn’t know to go to Romans

I disagree! Often our support is for principles and agenas supported by our Biblical convictions, in spite of the person involved.

    • Reply September 19, 2018

but shouldnt our Biblical convictions be our principles? Like with Trump we disregarded many if not all of our principles

Troy Day Exactly! Our Biblical convictions are our principles. And often I see godly, Biblical principles supported by ungodly people like Trump, who may be in immature believers, with their character not yet caught up with what they believe.

Troy Day Supporting Biblical policies is neither supporting sin nor the sinner. God has always used sinful people down through the generations. He has none other to choose from. But, He will show favor to and support leaders who are effective for just causes without condoning their lives.

Cant open the link but any information on economic success today is deeply misleading Our national debt has increased from 18 trillion in 2016 to almost 22 trillion in 2018. That’s $2 trillion per year

Is there anything in the Bible about soul ties or political spirit? Too much Charismatic jargon. Do we understand each other right if we talk like this?

I don’t quit understand what you mean about soul ties and political spirit. Do you mean Charismatic as Pentecost or just being plain and good speaker.

soul ties or political spirit – yes Jezabel is a great political example from the Bible John the Revelator uses Jezabel to describe the church having political ties with the world

Troy Day Jezebel political in Revelation? That passage does not mention government officials. ‘That woman Jezebel’ was teaching people to eatnmeat offered to idols and commit fornication.

Sounds like you might be going third wave Charismatic instead of Pentecostal on us.

On the contrary. Jezebel usurp over the king’s office as well as the legal system that serves the land as rightful inheritance So you have all 3 branches manipulated

I don’t remember reading anything about Jezebels in your notes. I’ve had so many doctors appointments. I guess i missed that part. Unless I made some kind of message or some point in there. But I brought out. That Paul was confusion them because of circumcision. And eating meat sacrificed to idols. Was some didn’t understand Paul’s message. I didn’t bring in Jezebel in with the subject. I didn’t even think about it. She did try to show her authority. But it didn’t work with Elijah. But I guess I missed that part of reading. I have had three MRI’s and a full body scant. I have never packing between my disk and several pinched nerves in my back. Nothing in my knees. They want to do knee replacements. In both knees. I might have that done. But I probably won’t do back surgery.

Just forget what I said about surgery’s. I shouldn’t have said any of that. You all will think I don’t even need to be on here. Please tell me just straight , like nothings wrong. Be the same as if I was twenty five years old. I still teach my Sunday School class. They gave me a cute little glass something about three years ago for teaching fourth one years in a row. I started in the young married class, and taught in there until I was fifty at least. Then went straight to the Adult class in the sanctuary. They forgot I did resign for one year because I felt someone else should have a chance. The next year. They voted me right back in. Please I didn’t say any of that to make you feel any different about me than any one else. Give me the Bible straight. Show me my mistakes. I just never thought of Jezebel al political. I guess I missed where you brought that out.I need to erase all this before you have time to read it. And Link to. I dint worry. Link will speak his thoughts. Lol.
