Rioters, abusive police, racists, hate-filled people and groups. They all seem to be our enemy. But what is behind it all? What influences these people to evil? The Bible gives us the true answer:

For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12).

The world does not have this ability, but we the church do. It is the responsibility of you and I to take a stand in the spirit realm. What is our responsibility? We are told in vs. 10 to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” Whose might? His! We, who have the Word of God and the Name of Jesus are the only answer to the underlying spiritual battle.

Each of us are responsible to stand strong

And in vs. 11, to “Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil” and vs. 13, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Today sure is the “evil day.” James 4:7 tells us to “submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” What must we do before we can effectively resist: submit ourselves to God? We should be living a submitted lifestyle all the time anyway, that way we are always prepared and able to effectively use the “full armor of God.”

We must stand strong in the power of His might and resist the devil until he flees for a season in our region or area of influence, then stand guard.

Paul tells us that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:4), And, it sure is strongholds that we are facing, like racism and lawlessness and hatred.

But there is so much apathy and complacency in the church. All that is happening should be a wake-up call, but many don’t even know how to battle in the spirit realm. Many have not seen need for a stronger spiritual walk and go about their routine. But these are not routine times. We need to come up higher!

A spiritual battle not fought cannot be won

Romans 15:1 tells us that “we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves.”

If the church is feeble, it is the responsibility of the strong to pray for the Holy Spirit to stir the embers into flame in those who are weak.

So, we who are strong in the Lord, Sons of God, a part of the remnant church co-laboring with Christ as He builds His glorious church, are left take up the spiritual weapons of our warfare to bind the enemy and stay his evil intentions.

First, let us look at these other strongholds that we are facing. The devil lies and deceives much of the church, using spirits of apathy and complacency.

Start by binding Apathy, Complacency and Division

Then, there is the spirit of division that has separated and weakened the church for most of its 2,000 years. And even when we love our brothers and sisters in other churches, do we love the Lord and His way enough to set aside minor difference and work together in a spirit of unity, proactively.

  • Awaken and Arise
  • Come Together
  • Fight the Battle

Where I live, and in most places, church leaders give lip-service to unity, gathering on special occasions maybe once or twice a year. Believers, we must radically intensify our prayer lives and the constant use of our spiritual authority, in Jesus Name.

If we want more of the church alive and awakened and to be with us, these spirits apathy, complacency and division must be bound, in Jesus name. After all, there is more safety in numbers, and power in unity.

Then, together, let us tear down the spirits of racism and lawlessness and hatred. We can come into agreement and bind their effectiveness in influencing ill-willed people everywhere. Are you with us on the Lord’s team?
