“…Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith, put himself forward and said, “I WILL BE KING.” So he got chariots and horses ready, with fifty men to run ahead of him. (1 Kings 1:5) [David was now very old and near death. This proclamation was made without King David’s knowledge or his permission; for David had said earlier that his son Solomon would be the next king.] “The LORD said to me: “…I myself will call to account ANYONE WHO DOES NOT LISTEN TO MY WORDS…a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded… is to be put to death.” (Deut. 18:17-20) [The Nation of Israel was God’s chosen people, God had set up David to be king and God directed David to appoint Solomon as king!] “As the LORD was with my lord the king, so MAY HE BE WITH SOLOMON to make his throne even greater than the throne of my lord King David!” (1 Kings 1:37) [Our Abba Father knows what He wants, so IT IS ALWAYS best for us to be obedient!] “…Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest arrived. Adonijah said, “Come in. A worthy man like you must be bringing good news.” “NOT AT ALL!” Jonathan answered. “OUR LORD KING DAVID HAS MADE SOLOMON KING.” (1 Kings 1:42-43) [Again, IT IS ALWAYS in our best interest to be obedient to the Lord God almighty!] “As you know,” he (Adonijah) said, “the kingdom was mine. All Israel looked to me as their king. But things changed, and the kingdom has gone to my brother; FOR IT HAS COME TO HIM FROM THE LORD.” (1 Kings 2:15) [The word “presume” comes from the word “zid”; a prim. root; to boil up, seethe, and act proudly or presumptuously or rebelliously] “You may say to yourselves, “HOW CAN WE KNOW when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD DOES NOT TAKE PLACE OR COME TRUE, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously…” (Deut. 18:21-22) [Our most important demonstration of our love for God is by our obedience!] “…Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices AS MUCH AS IN OBEYING THE LORD? TO OBEY IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE…For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry…” (1 Sam.l 15:22-23) [Thank you my Lord and my God that you hold us by our hand, you guide us to where you want us to be!] “I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may GIVE YOU THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION, so that you may know him better. I pray that THE EYES OF YOUR HEART MAY BE ENLIGHTENED…” (Eph. 1:16-18)
Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that THE EYES OF OUR HEART MAY BE ENLIGHTENED, SO WE WILL KNOW GOD’S WILL!
