For the diagnostic to be of meaning, you have to compare the early church and the modern day church…how they were alive and living for God, and how today’s church is alive and living for the world..

DEAD…
Dying and dead are two different states of a “living” organism…
Jesus said the flesh counts for nothing…it is the Spirit that matters in a church…
So if the Spirit is not there..the church is DEAD not dying…even though you might have all the bustle and rattle of flesh…(playing church as Troy Day calls it)

Jesus said ” let the dead bury their own dead…”
In this part of the world we have a saying “Usimwamshe aliyelala na ukimwamsha utalala wewe..”
Translated” Dont wake up a sleeping man lest you fall into sleep yourself..”
In Zen Budhism there is something called KOAN…When a cup is filled to the top with tea or coffee you cannot add more tea or coffee..it will be meanigless and it will spill over.
Such is the state of the mind of a man who has ALL THE KNOWLEDGE who knows everything.It is a waste trying to impart anything new unto them.
The Pharisees and Sadusees and teachers of the law and the elders BELIEVED THEY KNEW ALL THERE WAS TO KNOW ABOUT GOD…so when Jesus came along and tried to them the truth they wouldn’t accept Him or His teachings..They were already FULL..
The WHY factor of sick and dying and dead churches are found in the church themselves…
They need an emptying of the head then a new re filling..
