what is yalls @followers Tom Torbeyns Michael Buban Neil Steven Lawrence John Darby (1800-1882) was an Anglo-Irish theologian and a key figure in the development of dispensationalism, a theological framework that emphasizes the distinction between different periods in biblical history and God’s varying dealings with humanity during those times. He is best known for promoting the idea of the pre-tribulation rapture, which suggests that believers will be taken up to heaven before a period of great tribulation on earth.

Darby was one of the founders of the Plymouth Brethren movement, a group that sought to return to a more primitive form of Christianity and emphasized the authority of the Bible. His teachings had a significant influence on evangelical thought and contributed to the rise of fundamentalism in the 20th century.

His writings and ideas continue to impact various Christian denominations, particularly among those who hold views related to the end times and the rapture. If you have more specific questions about John Darby or his teachings, feel free to ask!

Troy Day Nice. I also want to recommend the book by Paul R. Wilkinson, Understanding Christian Zionism: Israel’s Place in the Purposes of God – Charting Dispensationalism and the Role of John N. Darby.

Wilkinson follows Darby on his trips to North America and explains how he was so influential and how he contributed to the growth of dispensational zionism.

I’m neither a zionist nor a dispensationalist, but that book is good.

Troy Day We can start with the Bible. Daniel 9:24-27 is the key passage to understand the pretrib rapture. “Your people and your city” is not the church. Is concerning the Jewish nation I.e Israel 🇮🇱

Also, here goes some of my favorite church fathers:

        Cyprian (AD 200-258)

“We who see that terrible things have begun, and know that still more terrible things are imminent, may regard it as the greatest advantage to depart from it as quickly as possible. Do you not give God thanks, do you not congratulate yourself, that by an early departure you are taken away, and delivered from the shipwrecks and disasters that are imminent? Let us greet the day which assigns each of us to his own home, which snatches us hence, and sets us free from the snares of the world and restores us to paradise and the kingdom.”
        – Treatises of Cyprian

        Victorinus (AD 240-303)

“And the heaven withdrew as a scroll that is rolled up.” For the heaven to be rolled away, that is, that the Church shall be taken away. “And every mountain and the islands removed from their places intimate that in the last persecution all men departed from their places; that is, that the good will be removed, seeking to avoid persecution.”
        – Commentary on the Apocalypse

“You have escaped from great tribulation on account of your faith, and because you did not doubt in the presence of such a beast.

        The Shepherd of Hermas, 1.4.2

        Thomas Vincent (1634-1678)

“the righteous … suddenly caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; which sight will be fearful and amazing to them, when they perceive themselves to be left behind. … O the fear and trouble which will be upon the spirits of those unbelieving Christ-less, grace-less sinners … some of them linked in the nearest relations to them, when their believing relations shall be caught away from them, and carried up into the air, with the rest of the glorious train of Saints, when themselves shall remain below upon the earth ..

        Irenaeus (AD 130 – 202)

And therefore, when in the end the Church shall be suddenly caught up from this, it is said, “There shall be tribulation such as has not been since the beginning, neither shall be.” For this is the last contest of the righteous, in which, when they overcome they are crowned with incorruption.”

        – Against Heresies, Book 5, 5. 29

What these pre-Darby rapture statements prove, if nothing else, is that indeed others did see the rapture taught in Scripture similar to the way that pretribulationists in our own day teach. Thus, the argument that no one ever taught pretribulationism until J. N. Darby in 1830 is just not historically true and it is becoming increasingly clear with each passing year.

Jose Salinas Thanks, I was unfamiliar with some of these.

        (1) Daniel 9 is very difficult for pretribullationism because of the alleged 2000 year gap. Historicist or christological interpretation is better here.

        (2) Irenaeus was surely not pretrib.

        > But when this Antichrist shall have devastated all things in this world, he will reign for three years and six months, and sit in the temple at Jerusalem; and then the Lord will come from heaven in the clouds, in the glory of the Father, sending this man and those who follow him into the lake of fire; but bringing in for the righteous the times of the kingdom, that is, the rest, the hallowed seventh day; …
        – Irenaeus, Against Heresies, book V, chapter 30

‘And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, who have received no kingdom as yet, but shall receive power as if kings one hour with the beast’ … And they shall lay Babylon waste, and burn her with fire, and shall give their kingdom to the beast, and put the Church to flight. After that they shall be destroyed by the coming of our Lord.
        – Irenaeus, Against Heresies, book V, chapter 26

        (3) The quote from Shepherd of Hermas can be interpreted as posttrib. They were “in the presence of the beast”, so I dispute this.

        (4) Victorinus any Cyprian do not seem to speak of rapture, but I’ll take a closer look.

The recent episode of Manna-Fest featuring Perry Stone provides a compelling exploration of prophetic themes, particularly in the context of contemporary spiritual discourse. Stone’s emphasis on discerning genuine ministry from fraudulent solicitations underscores a critical awareness necessary in today’s digital landscape. His insistence on transparency regarding financial interactions is particularly noteworthy, as it reflects a broader trend towards accountability within religious organizations. Furthermore, the production quality and setting of the episode in Cleveland adds to the authenticity and engagement factor for viewers, fostering a deeper connection to the content presented.
