Bill Stockham | PentecostalTheology.comThe seven lamps we see in verse 12 represent the seven Churches, in which the light of God was CONTINUALLY SHINING, and THE LOVE OF GOD CONTINUALLY BURNING. And they are represented here as golden, to show how precious they were (and we are) in the sight of God. Jesus is standing in their midst, just as we would expect because our Abba Father said:
“…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Heb. 13:5) [Jesus is our high priest, even in heaven. He is still discharging the priestly functions before the throne of God as he CONSTANTLY watches over us, and at the same time is always WITH US!] “And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.” (Rev. 1:12-13) [This description John gives us was not only an symbol of his time immemorial, but it was the CONFIRMATION OF HIS GLORY; for the whiteness or glory of his head and hair doubtless proceeded from the rays of light and glory which surrounded his head, and darted from it in all directions.] “His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;” (Rev. 1:14) [His “eyes” signify his omniscience, and the all-penetrating nature of His Divine knowledge. JESUS KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US!] “And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.” (Rev. 1:15) [Jesus’ FEET, are shown as fine (burnished–polished) BRASS, as if they BURNED IN A FURNACE. BRASS is the SYMBOL of JUDGMENT as Jesus TREADS the ENEMIES OF THE GOSPEL under His feet. Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. Water falls 542 feet and then another 78 feet to the bottom. My wife and I used to love to visit and hike around the fall area, we would stand on a bridge at the 542 foot level and listen to the awesome sound as the water landed in the pool below, it must be like sound of the “voice of many waters!] “And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” (Rev. 1:16) [An awesome description of our Lord and savior who will never leave us, who will never forsake us!] “For the WORD OF GOD is quick, and powerful, and SHARPER THAN ANY TWOEDGED SWORD… and is a discerner [recognize, or capture] of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12)
Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that GOD’S WORD IS ALIVE AND VERY POWERFUL EVERY DAY!
