Daniel ch. 8:1-27. The Two Sanctuaries.
This vision was received by Daniel 12 years before the fall of Babylon. The ram is Medo Persia and the 2 horns are the 2 parts of the empire with the Persians. The goat is Greece and the horn between it’s eyes is Alexander the Great who was from the west. He defeated their armies Persia. Vs. 9-12 speaks of several types of powers (Persian, Grecian, Roman, and Papal). Interesting to note that the exact start date was not given. Every part of the vision was explained except the 2300 days prophecy. Why was the Angel instructed to tell Daniel to close the book? We need to read on and study deeper. This dream/vision was so troubling to Daniel that he was sick after waking up and was astonished by the vision. But no one understood. Do we understand?
But the most important question remains to be answered: What is the cleansing of the sanctuary? That there was such a service in connection with the earthly sanctuary is stated in the Old Testament Scriptures. But can there be anything in heaven to be cleansed? In Hebrews 9 the cleansing of both the earthly and the heavenly sanctuary is plainly taught…

Here in this chapter Daniel was permitted to see some of the conflicts between Christ and Satan. He was permitted to look into the future. That which he saw was appalling. He saw changes taking place of which he had never dreamed. It appeared the worship of God would cease. This was almost more than he could endure.
That which in its beginning was referred to as “a little horn”(v9) Daniel watched. As it practiced and prospered through subtlety and deceit, trampling truth, he saw it finally become “mighty”(v25). This Antichrist power acted by the power of Satan.
Much of the vision was not clear in Daniel’s time.Therefore he was told to “Shut…up the vision”.(v26). It need not be fully understood then. But as we draw nearer to the end of time the prophecy will become clearer. Daniel saw events but not the time when the events would take place. In our day we will see the culmination of the battle between truth and error.
