“Evil religious spirit has more influence than the Holy Spirit.” ~Rick Joyner

John Kissinger [09/28/2015 11:30 PM]
I STRONGLY disagree…

Peter A Vandever [09/28/2015 11:36 PM]
Context?

John Kissinger [09/28/2015 11:39 PM]
quote!

Starfire A Freefilly [09/28/2015 11:42 PM]
All one has to do is say in hte name of Jesus be gone , the evil has to flee

John Kissinger [09/28/2015 11:44 PM]
Why Jesus never said His name to cast demons out?

Peter A Vandever [09/28/2015 11:45 PM]
As far as the unbelievers, that is true.

John Kissinger [09/28/2015 11:47 PM]
To say that evil religious spirit has more influence than the Holy Spirit is to say that the Holy Spirit has no influence over the evil spirits

John Ruffle [09/29/2015 12:57 AM]
Need the context, context, context.

Starfire A Freefilly [09/29/2015 1:02 AM]
1 John 3:8-10 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, … Renounce all the evil, dark, and satanic spirits in the name of Jesus Christ …

one cannot con a con-text

Alan N Carla Smith [09/29/2015 9:02 AM]
Here’s some context for you.
Rick Joyner was speaking of churches and their leaders having a religious spirit about them and not allowing the Holy Spirit to reign in the church.
He wasn’t saying that one is more powerful he was simply stating that church leaders today and GIVING more authority to those religious spirits.

John Kissinger [09/29/2015 9:11 AM]
Alan N Carla Smith is right on the money. Was it Joyner that was part of a Tempeler’s club Peter A Vandever should know

Alan N Carla Smith [09/29/2015 9:17 AM]
I agree! It is up to that person to renounce it over their lives.
THEN we must have
1. the Spirit of Discernment – to recognize in others
2. the Boldness – to call it out
3. the Authority (from Yeshua) – to cast it out

The real issue here is not about a demon possessing a person. This is not a Biblical term. It’s about a person possessing a demon Robert Borders

I asked a preacher who used the term ‘religious spirit’ if he meant a demon or principality and he said it was a mindset. I wonder if Joyner meant a literal denom.

If you say ‘religious spirit’ neaning a mindset such of your audience will think it is a demon.

I have not found a ‘religious spirit’ in the Bible. Jesus quoted, “in vain do they worship me” of Israelites. But they seem to blame them and not a demon. I see Jesus rebuking Pharisees and challenging their ideas. But I do not read where He rebuked a religious spirit or cast it out of them.

IMO, it makes more sense to specifically teach the word than to throw esoteric and confusing terms like ‘religous spirit’ around. The Bible had much to say about vain and insincere religious practices, hypocrisy, and false doctrine.

Religion was not a bad word among Pentecostals and Charismatics when I was a child. The Bible even speaks of pure religion. “It is not a religion. It is a relationship.” is not the gospel. But there are plenty of preachers who say that who do not mention the atonement if the resurrection when supposedly preaching the Gospel.

Some preachers added ‘personal’ to Savior and preached accepting Jesus as your personal Savior as if it were the gospel a generation before (omiting the resurrection part in some cases) and now there are people who do not want to talk about religion because it us too personal or do not want to go to church because it is a ‘personal relationship.’

For a few decades now ‘religion’ has been vilified and there are people who do not want to be religous who get Hebrew tattoos on their neck or who jump on the trampoline while the Bible study is going on. I knew one guy who was against gaving a personal prayer discipline of praying at set times during the day.

A religious spirit is a type of demonic spirit that influences a person, … This evil spirit has established nonbiblical beliefs and customs for generations. … This religious spirit is out to imitate the work of the Holy Spirit

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
      John 20:30 KJV
Does the Bible list all the demons that Jesus cast out?…
We see Nicodemus coming to Jesus at night as a religious Jewish teacher, then later we are told he was a disciple..
The Bible doesn’t say much what transpired during their encounter…after a brief discourse on new birth.
Would it be far fetched to think that after their conversation Jesus had to cast out the religious spirit out of Nicodemus so that he could receive the Holy Spirit..?

Isara Mo it seems far-fetched to me. The Gospel seems to present those who need demons cast out as raving demoniacs. Unless a ‘spirit of infirmity’ is a demon, but is there any reference to an excorcism in that passage?

I dont see ” raving demonics(with the exception of the Gadarenes man) in the deliverances that Jesus did..
In the first incident of a demon manifestation a man was in the synagogue(not in the street raving mad)…and was listening to the Lord (as we often listen to preachers and teachers) when the demons in the man shouted…
I.have seen these kind of manifestation in services that are real powerful where demons from gentlemen like you would just explode in the presence of God..
Sometimes people don’t need their demons cast out, but the demons by themselves shriek and come out..

I dont see it that way. First off what context was he addressing when making the statement Context is a king Secondly was he referring to a state or dominion. Joyner is dominionalist and secures theology that overcomes the world Certainly counter to the statement above

Does this article make sense? When a religious spirit is influencing us we replace religious activity for the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In fact, the religious spirit is Satan’s answer for the Holy Spirit. The religious spirit so closely mimics the Holy Spirit that many sincere believers think the Holy Spirit is leading them when in fact it is really a religious spirit. https://www.riverlifefellowship.com/overcoming-religious-spirits/

I can say I have this spirit by the look of it and I need to address it personally..

Doc i have listened to his intro and he said something about being in the prophetic for over twenty or twenty five years, doing all.these ” deliverance stuff” …then quit.(?)
I don’t know the man but just listened to this one video…only.
So I cannot really comment on that..
Of course if we see demons in too many places frequently that is problematic because we would be saying the Lord God isn’t there…

      Traits denote influence.
In an area where murder and violence are rife you know there is a spirit of killing behind it.
If you find absence of gifts in a church and an imitation of the same gifts operated by a different spirit, what conclusion can you draw?
The statement ” more influence than the Holy Spirt doesn’t say more powerful than the Holy Spirir..No spirit can be more powerful than the Holy Spirit..
God is all powerful but we see more Satanic influence in most areas of the world..
Of the 25, 8and 9 and 10….represent best ” the evil religious spirit has more influence….
