He still refuses to repent from his heresy that he preached at Brownsville revival or false revival I should say.” https://www.facebook.com/groups/pentecostaltheologygroup/search/?query=brown%20heresy

Brownsville wasn’t a false Revival, I went there as a young Christian while I was still in Southern Baptist convention. Nevertheless, maybe you don’t like John Kilpatrick and Dr Brown because they don’t ascribe to Dake’s crackpot theology and the Gap Theory?

Peter Fiske On this we agree. The Brownsville Revival was life changing for me and my wife. We went on to serve for eight years in the mission field after I quit 25 years of University teaching. And guess what? We didn’t ever get into any long debates about Gen 1:2. We were too busy worshipping and taking the gospel out to the lost.

I was baptized when I was 14, but don’t really believe that I was saved until I had a powerful encounter with God at the Revival, which changed my life. I was a baptist boy that thought the baptism in the Holy Ghost couldn’t be real until the glory of God came on me, and these strange words began to come out of my mouth. Being touched by God changes everything in an instant.

Gary Micheal Epping, I’m glad you had that experience at the Brownsville Revival. However, it seems as if Troy Day thinks that’s the movement of the Holy Spirit that positively impacted almost 5 million people for 5 years in Pensacola somehow is negative and/or false. That’s really poor discernment on his part.

Peter Fiske I, and probably you, have heard it all from people about the Brownsville Revival, from the greatest movement of God since the awakening to a false revival from the devil. It used to get under my skin when people criticized the revival, but after I learned that every major revival in America has had major critics, I don’t usually get upset anymore. I tell people that I was there often, and spent two years at BRSM. I know a lot of people that got saved there. I will tell you my story if you want to listen. If you don’t want to hear it thats okay too. I also will tell people that there is nothing you could ever tell me that will make me doubt the revival, as I know from direct experience that this was a mighty move of God. Peter, I already know that I don’t need to explain the Brownsville Revival to you, because I know that you already know. It is just something that people know about each other when they find out they both were a part of the Revival.

Joseph Kidwell The messages that Steve Hill preached were pretty simple. He preached on sin nearly every service, and told people to get the sin out their lives, accept Jesus as one’s Lord and Savior, and follow Jesus Christ the rest of their lives. The power of God was so power there that one either yielded to God or wanted to get out of the service real quick. I have studied baptist and protestant theology, pentecostal theology, and Catholic theology to try and round out my studies. I have never seen or head anything heretical while I was at Brownsville.

He is one of the smartest and most articulate, but he is not perfect and probably ought to stay out of politics. However, I admire his long devotion to Jesus Christ the same as I do of Troy Day. Peter Fiske Actually, you can’t say that Dr. Brown doesn’t “ascribe to Dake’s crackpot theology and the Gap Theory?” According to the Dogma Debate, episode #180 – Smalley vs. Dr. Michael Brown, the following dialogue took place.

Smalley: So are you a Young Earth Creationist?

Brown: No, I’m not sure about the age of the earth in terms of scientific debate because I don’t have the scientific acumen to decide. I know the general beliefs by the vast majority of scientists in terms of an old earth etc. But based on reading Scripture alone I don’t believe that it makes clear what the age of the earth is. You can read it as a young earth creationist or you can read it in a different way. I’m trying to read it as written against its Ancient Near Eastern background and things like that… What I absolutely believe is in a Creator. Absolutely. And while there are certainly evolutionary processes that happened the only explanation for the human race, our make up, is that God created us.

Smalley: Ok. So you don’t know?

      Brown: I don’t know.

Gary Micheal Epping, why should Dr Michael Brown stay out of politics? Matthew 5:13 calls Christians to be salt and light in this world. Part of that mandate is to engage the culture and the only way we can do that effectively is to participate in our nation’s political process including making biblically-based commentaries on how our country should be ruled.

The lack of helium in the atmosphere, if the Earth or actually 4.6 billion years old and somewhat of a problem for evolutionists (and now apparently, Genesis

“Uranium and thorium generate helium atoms as they decay to lead. A study published in the Journal of Geophysical Researchshowed that such helium produced in zircon crystals in deep, hot Precambrian granitic rock has not had time to escape. [Gentry, R. V., G. L. Neil Konitshek, apart from the heavy KJV dialect, Romans 10:9 it’s pretty cut and dried. However, if one is embellished in the New Age movement, it’s likely that you’re not being led by the Holy Spirit, but to buy a demonic spirit. John 6:44 tells us that no person can come to Jesus unless the Spirit of the Father, being the Holy Spirit, draws them.

Troy Day John Kilpatrick commented on Todd Bentley, “Those that know me know that I love revival, but I also place great emphasis on doctrine and integrity. In fact, I make decisions of support of people and their ministries based on these two qualities. That being said, in the very early stages of revival, I went to visit Todd Bentley in Lakeland, Fla. My purpose was to champion revival, and I had great hope that it would be one that would sweep the world.

At that time, I didn’t know much about Todd or his doctrine, but had some concern. Over the last two months, it has become a major concern to me. I have some strong doctrinal issues with his extra-biblical views.

Also, our hearts are saddened that Todd has chosen to resist council from credible individuals and has legally separated from his wife. Our prayers go out to both him and his family. We know this will bring great hurt to many in the Body of Christ. That’s just what this type of thing does. It’s the sheep that usually get hurt the most.” https://jenniferleclaire.org/articles/john-kilpatrick-voices-major-concern-with-todd-bentley-doctrine/

Troy Day I really object to talking about the Brownsville Revival at the same time as Lakeland. They are unrelated. If you want to take about Lakeland, another thread would be better. Please keep this one on Brownsville, where Dr. Brown was the President of BRSM.

Troy Day Why are you posting that. It has nothing to do with Brownsville. If you want to talk about Lakeland, start a new thread, but don’t try to intermix that mess with Brpwnsville. That is an injustice.

Brownsville was a old fashioned pentecostal revival that was based on the preaching of sin and the need for repentance, so one could accept and follow JesusPERIOD.

Gary Micheal Epping, I actually went to Lakeland to see this supposed move of God myself. And I’m happy to report that it was a fraud. I didn’t feel any, nor did I witness any move of the Holy Spirit whatsoever.

Troy Day, since you seem to like to use the fallacy of equivocation (apples vs oranges) to lump the genuine Brownsville Revival in with the fraudulent Lakeland Revival, you might want to consider lumping someone else into this group. Of course I’m talking about the famous 20th century false prophet that peddle the heretical Gap Myth, none other than Finis Jennings Dake, and his plethora of ridiculous false teachings.

Peter Fiske I never did go to Lakeland, but the comments I heard from others that did were similar to what you reported. The two revivals should never be evaluated together just because of things like they both happened in an AOG church, they were both in Florida, and happened in a similar time frame. None of those things are reasons to try and link the two revivals. It is like trying to link the Brownsville Revival with the Cane Ridge Revival. A genuine Revival needs to be studied on its own merits. The great awakening, Cane Ridge Revival. Finney’s Rochester Revival, Azusa street Revival, and the Brownsville Revival were all unique mighty moves of God!

He was there for a long time. They scammed people for millions of dollars. They were doing all the slain in the spirit manifestations and a good friend of mine came home so demonized he could barely function any longer. Very demonic and he refuses to repent from his part there at Brownsville.

Res 16 was in response to the sideshow that developed in Lakeland with Bentley. It had nothing to do with the Brownsville Revival. At the time, Thomas Trask said, “This [Brownsville] is a sovereign move of God.” Charles Crabtree spoke twice at Brownsville while I was there and endorsed it. Renewal Journal said, “Assistant General Superintendent, Charles Crabtree, was a speaker at the April Pensacola Harvest Revival Ministers’ Conference in Brownsville and was visibly touched by all that was happening there. General Superintendent Thomas Trask is a godly man who definitely desires spiritual revival, and reports indicate that what is happening at Brownsville is warmly endorsed by the AOG Executive Presbytery, Springfield.” https://renewaljournal.blog/2011/07/20/harvest-now-byrobert-mcquillan/

Troy Day I attended off and on the Brownsville Revival from 1996 to 1998, and then full time from 1999 to 2000. The school was not a mess, and the faculty was tight knit with the focus was on missions and sending missionaries out to different countries. I have four bible school degrees from different institutions. There was nothing abnornal about BRSM from the other schools, and no deviant teaching as you suggest. I don’t know where people come up with such ideas. Its too bad you were not able to attend the Revival back in the day, and many of your question would already be answered. As for the NAR, it is not even a real thing, that it’s just a fabrication from really overly critical people. Never heard much about the term until recently, when people have tried to create a boogey man than doesn’t exist. Every thing was fine with Michael Brown at the school until the AOG steped in in 2000 and wanted to force Dr. Brown to accept AOG credentials, which he did not want to do. Wasn’t a problem until then. This was the reason that Dr. Brown was fired. The school basically left and became FIRE which still exists today with most of the old faculty still teaching. BRSM enrollment declined rapidly and was down the tubes in q couple of years. It would have been better if the AOG had let the school remain as it was. Control issues eventually ended both the bible school and the revival. Although the Brownsville Revival and BRSM were in an AOG church, a high percentage of attendees came from every denominational background. When there is real revival, people cross denominational lines to attend, as I can attest.

Gary I dont know about it. My information comes pass the year 2000 when AG was gonna team up with Peter Wagner but they they went different direction and AG denied the whole NAR thing; all and while by that time all FL outpourings were already passed and infiltrated by various strange teachings

Peter Fiske Neil Konitshek It is by far interesting to me that the discussion is going astray from OP – namely Brown’s political position posted in this group by Ricky Grimsley back in the day and his current participation in the Jerusalem peace making in opposition to the consulate moving from TelAviv to Jerusalem

Troy Day listen up brothers. I am warning you that we must not get entangled with the world and nothing entangles us with the world like getting involved with politics. If you do get involved with politics don’t bring it into the church or into your ministry.

I will recommend to my friend MB, that he remove himself from this business before he damages his ministry.

Know that MB published this prior to the evangelicals getting on the Trump bandwagon. That came about due to Jerry Falwell endorsing Trump. There are recent reports that in doing that, Falwell was returning a favor due to Trump connecting him to Cohen, the fixer attorney. A minister of the gospel shouldn’t have needed such an attorney. I’ll stop here because touching into politics will defile us.

We can as we like favor Trump or oppose him, believe him to be a good President or bad one. But we shouldn’t give a lot of attention to politics and above all not baptize this dirty business as the business of God’s Kingdom.

Troy Day come now. What Pentecostal seminary is teaching political science? It’s absurd to expect the people of the world to conform to the standards of the kingdom. That would suppose that Jesus death was unnecessary.

It seems that this generation of Pentecostals are unaware that holiness doesn’t just require separation from the world. Holiness is separation from the world. It’s the holy and not the profane.

Come out from among her that you be not partakers of her sin!

What about this…God Himself expected pre-Christ Israel to conform to strict standards of the Law to teach them that they could not accomplish this in themselves. Why have any law? Get rid of all laws because people need Jesus? You arent making any sense…

In the sense the context is not provided. Your little screenshot doesn’t even demonstrate the quote Michael Brown is worked up about. Brown also says he’s just “assuming” the authenticity of said quote. Ergo, it’s out of context.
