I’m not going to listen if he thinks you can pray through to entire sanctification rather than reckoning death to sin. So there. I will take my marbles and go home 😉

With all due respect and ignorance please forgive me but I’m half way through #2 sanctification and the good doctor still has not defined it. He named the holiness movement as the second great Awakening and post civil war. With names like Moody and Billy Sunday. Who effectively killed sanctification. But fails to mention Finney and Christian perfection. Is there #3 that actually tackles biblical sanctification in scripture?
I appreciate these efforts as sanctification has always been the precursor for Awakening. And we need awakening. Desperately.

You are a good man but the issue is instantaneous entire sanctification after prolonged struggle in prayer – which has zero biblical support but awakening and commitment to sanctification in the sense of separation from carnality do go together

The holiness preaching im familiar with is sanctification at the new birth. As I understand it sanctification is deliverance from sin, besetting sin, the old man, and the rebellion of carnal desire, pride, ambition. Jesus not only takes the sin but he takes the want to sin. It is also the application of, “…put on the new man created in righteousness and true holiness. It is the glorious liberty of the sons of God. For me the scripture, “These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” is significant. They did it. They repented, sought God, and received grace, mercy, cleansing, strength and victory over sin in Jesus name.
My only desire is to present Christ and His work on the cross with accuracy.
John Wesley made great use of 1 Corinthians 1:30 “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”
According to his journal he preached it often. I encourage every one to turn from sin and seek God. And put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

All believers believe in sanctification at salvation and perpetual sanctification from there onward

I would prefer to hear from the man of God. The good doctor. I need this understanding desperately. Is there a #3 sanctification coming soon?

Is this ok for a definition.
Sanctification is separation from sin and separated unto God. For His service and His glory. In Jesus mighty name. In sanctification we give ourselves to God to use or not as He sees fit.
