Early theologians, used the widespread interest in astrology to help make the case that the ” star of Bethlehem ” led wise men to the Christ child. Only astrologers they reasoned would recognize this unusual star and have the faith to follow it ( for as long as two years ) Even then no one had an idea of just how many million miles away the star was; so the Christmas story once again leaves us in mystery and calls on us to ” only believe.”
