Our churches have always made room for women preachers. We don’t for a lot of offices and that’s for a another debate. Right now there is a debate going on in the SBC and Beth Moore is right in the middle of it. So, my question to anybody who will not allow a woman to teach or preach to men is….why is it OK for a woman to sing the Word but not speak the Word? It seems to me if she will only put some music to her preaching, she’s good.

Troy Day As usual the truth of God and getting past feeling always strikes a cord with people. Woman let me say this loud and clear, There is nothing wrong with submission. There is no shame in it. To believe different is of this world. God created man first.
God instructed Adam then Adam was to instruct eve. God called woman Ezer which is helper. God called man Ish and woman Isha. Man being hard and woman soft. Eve sinned first but who was blamed? The one in authority Adam. So what do we see before we even can past Genesis ? Roles, authority, submission, and Order. Patriarchs, prophets, armies, temple singers,Kings…. well except for you know who. All men. 1st Corinthians 14:34-36 prohibits woman from speaking. Not prophesy or worship but speaking. It is the man’s job. Woman are to teach woman or children not men. TITUS. Do not take a couple of odd ball examples and try to flip the order of God.

Firstly, this is a pentecostal theology page. The Pentecostal world has always allowed and encouraged women pastors/preachers. Secondly, when quoting Paul on the topic you need to read all of Paul. Compare the verse in 1 Timothy with Romans 16, and 1 Corinthians 15. If you can’t see the range of views in Paul across those three passages, you’re missing Paul. If I may respectfully suggest, dig deeper, study Scripture, read some pentecostal church history, and pray into it – you’ll find there’s a whole lot more going on this topic.

Troy Day Paul didn’t preach in pulpits like we have in the 21C.
The topic (in a Pentecostal forum) is preaching not pulpits.
Again, we as Pentecostals have had women preach and pastor (and the rest) for more than 100 years. If this doesn’t fit your theology then maybe you’re in the wrong church/group? Or haven’t had time to consider the way this fits within our penumatology. Because that’s where it sits within Pentecostal thinking.

Beth Moore Responds to John MacArthur: ‘I Did Not Surrender to a Calling of Man’
Bible teacher Beth Moore, who was publicly mocked last week by a prominent evangelical leader, responded on Twitter Monday saying she would continue to follow Jesus and that she did not “surrender to a calling of man.”
Until her social media posting, Moore had remained quiet after John MacArthur, a best-selling author and radio host, told a group of pastors at the Truth Matters Conference that she should “go home.”
As Christian Headlines reported yesterday, MacArthur made the comment as part of a word association exercise during a panel discussion that also included fellow pastor Phil Johnson. The first question posed by the moderator to MacArthur was what he thought when he heard the name of Beth Moore.
“Go home!” he responded before adding, “There is no case that can be made Biblically for a woman preacher—period, paragraph, end of discussion.”
Johnson also contributed by calling Moore “narcissistic.”
The exchange, which brought thunderous applause and laughter from the audience, prompted numerous Christian leaders to come to her defense in the days since. Moore finally broke her silence Monday without directly naming MacArthur, Johnson or the conference.
“I did not surrender to a calling of man when I was 18 years old,” she posted. “I surrendered to a calling of God. It never occurs to me for a second not to fulfill it. I will follow Jesus—and Jesus alone—all the way home. And I will see His beautiful face and proclaim, Worthy is the Lamb!
“Here’s the beautiful thing about it & I mean this with absolute respect. You don’t have to let me serve you. That gets to be your choice. Whether or not I serve Jesus is not up to you. Whether I serve you certainly is. One way or the other, I esteem you as my sibling in Christ.”
