Jesus divided history into the old age and the new age. Suddenly the Holy Spirit is poured out on ‘all flesh’ and suddenly Christ is present in all baptized Christians and suddenly Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth and, well, that makes for a new age.

From the Jewish point of view there was a few hundred years not hearing the prophetic word then Peter quotes Joel as saying that the Spirit will be poured out on all flesh and all will prophesy. Suddenly because in one day how the Holy Spirit appears in history changes. Holy Spirit anointed men before this now Holy Spirit dwells in men.
