Have you heard of A BIBLE DRIPPING WITH OIL in Dalton, Georgia?

A Bible dripping with oil

I am NOT the person who has the oil. This is a report of my experience visiting the community where this sign is taking place. Do NOT contact me asking how to get the oil or where to see it. Go to this site, run by the community with the Bible, if you would like more information on the Bible or how to get a vial of oil.

A Bible Dripping with Oil

Yesterday I went on a little adventure. The previous night a friend across the country heard rumor of prayer room walls and a Bible dripping with oil just a few hours from me. A few texts back and forth and she had me connected with a new friend who is a part of the community where this sign and wonder is taking place and I was headed on road trip to meet this beautiful community.

Bible dripping with oilIn the back of a little gift shop in Dalton, Georgia there is a prayer room. For the past two years people have gathered there to pray for their city, region, and each other and intermittently oil has dripped from the walls. January 27th of this year one of those prayer warriors, Jerry, noticed his Bible was dripping with oil. Starting with Psalm 39 it spread over the next few days through the rest of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the concordance. Then the oil started back in Genesis and spread till it covered the whole Bible.

When he realized the oil wasn’t going to stop, bible in vat of oilJerry put the Bible in a ziploc bag at first, but as the oil continued, he had to size up to larger and larger containers. The bucket he now keeps it in continues to refill. God told him early on that as long as he gives the oil away freely and does not sell it, the oil will continue to flow. And so in the back of this little gift shop he gives away vials of oil and invites people to dip their hands in it.

chemist letter

Personal contact info blacked out, chemist’s summary of findings

He sent a sample of the oil to a chemist who says it is most similar to mineral oil, but that it isn’t mineral oil. It’s totally colorless and odorless and according to the chemist unexplainable.

The little gathering in the back of this gift shop was such a sweet place of love and fellowship. Thirty or so people were there praying for one another, giving prophetic words, and sharing testimonies of healing. They are quick to tell you that it is God, not the oil that is healing people, but there are multiple testimonies of how God has used the oil to heal people of cancer, skin rashes, and other diseases. This news article also reports Jerry’s testimony of the oil as it was told to me when I visited.

When I dipped my hands in the oil it hands covered in oilcontinued to multiply on my hands. My new friend tells me that they have seen this a few times before and it seems to be related to a healing gifting. The feeling of the oil getting heavier on my hands as the quantity of it grew was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It was like the opposite of feeling something dry on your hands. The oil is the thickest I’ve ever seen, similar to castor oil, but is light, silky smooth, odorless, and colorless. Jerry eventually gave me a towel to wipe most of it off and it stopped multiplying but even as I sit here a day later typing I can still see the shiny residue from it on my hands.

Seeing the Bible dripping with oil was an amazing experience that deepened my awe and wonder of what Jesus can do. It really does mess with your head to see something so unexplainable but that clearly is happening. As I have talked with God about the oil and about why this particular sign for our region, He has reminded me how the Bible Belt has often held a trinity of Father, Son, Holy Bible. What better place for Holy Spirit to show up and make Himself known.

oil dripping from wall

Oil dripping from the wall of the prayer room

Signs and wonders like this are actually more common than we realize but I believe the two extreme responses they tend to get are why we don’t hear of them more often. On one extreme people deny it totally and cling to a cessationist belief that miracles, signs, wonders– basically anything to do with the Holy Spirit stopped with the Bible and it is wrong to believe those things could happen now.

On the other extreme you have people that begin to obsess with the sign and wonder itself, attributing power and significance to it that was never meant to be there. This extreme is the folks that start calling and emailing (without even reading to see that I’m not the right person to call/email) insisting they need the oil for themselves. They place their faith in the oil instead of the Giver of the oil. This extreme is also why I have be careful not to openly share the name of the gift shop or Jerry’s personal contact info.

Yes, oil dripping out of a Bible is pretty cool. Yes, I believe the oil is a manifestation of the presence of God. But, if you feel like you need a vial of the oil to pray for healing or experience God’s presence that’s a problem. God does not need the oil to heal. He does not need the oil to make His presence known. And you don’t need it either. If you feel a desperation for the oil itself, go to the Source of the oil in prayer. Don’t just seek out the earthly source carrying it right now. A sign and wonder is supposed to draw you into closer relationship with the Giver of the sign, not create an unhealthy desire in you to possess the sign for yourself. There’s nothing wrong with thinking it would be cool to get some of the oil and wanting to see it for yourself. But it becomes unhealthy if you feel incomplete without the oil.

Jeffrey Woolston…This reminds me of the statue of Mary crying, the “holy laughter”, the “holy running”, the gold “angel dust” that just appeared and other supposed manifestations that come and go. People are excited by some SIGN that God’s powers are real and can be manipulated. Jesus walked the earth and never once held a healing meeting. People keep wanting SIGNS, but Jesus said we have the Bible and don’t need to look for signs. I have God’s Word…I don’t need any other kinds of evidence. This is sensationalism, perhaps by the power of Satan. He uses distractions to set up the world for antichrist!

If people are so undiscerning that they can’t even read a short article to find the website listed for this “leaky” bible how is anyone expected to realize this is just another in a long line of hoaxes perpetrated on Christians with zero sense of discernment. Zero. You make all Christians look like ignorant bumpkins and hurt the cause of Christ you claim to care so much about. Sad.

Here is vial of the “oil from the Bible”
In March I attended a prayer service apart from but kind of part of a weekly winter gospel sing in Yuma, Az. My sisters and I sing as a trio and do quite a bit of singing during the winter months when all the snowbirds are here. We sing all the old stuff and they love it.
I don’t for a minute think this oil is coming from the Bible and if it is I don’t think it’s coming from a good place. Nevertheless
out of curiosity I attended, having knowledge of this alleged leaky Bible.
Barbara Fairchild (I Wish I Was a Teddy Bear) was the featured speaker that evening. She has become involved with the originators of this “phenomenon” and publicizes it as she travels sharing her singing ministry. Of great interest to me is the fact that this Bible has not been brought into a church where the oil has been mostly depleted in its container to then see the level of oil rise during said service. As well no overnight video pointed at the container to watch it spontaneously fill up. Why is this?
Barbara Fairchild claims she had 6 viles and put them into a plastic Mickey or Minnie mouse cereal bowl only to find condensation on the viles the next morning. Mine has been sitting on a buffet in my dining room and has not changed since it was handed to me.

That is not the point. No matter how long it takes, if you are in a two hour service there should be some noticeable change in the level. Especially if the container has been greatly depleted by vials previous being filled. Even if we agree on your supposition are you telling me that no one handling or directly involved in this oil Bible have not been curious enough to set up a video recorder to actually see this miracle taking place? If this is truly happening and they believe it is this would not show doubt…..only that they want to witness the full extent of the miracle taking place.
      What say you?

Heard of it, but, can’t understand why God would do such a thing.

Can God do it? Absolutely, but why?

I think we must guard our hearts and realize there are false prophets, liars, and false miracles in the world. That’s doesn’t mean we have less faith. I fully believe in God and His abilities. Yet I know His Word says men’s hearts are wicked also.

This reminds me of the stories of God putting gold in peoples teeth and gold dust in the room.

I know He could, but, why? Never was it recorded in scriptures of it happening. Which I realize God can do more than what’s written in scriptures. I’m just saying I think it’s right to ask for proof and to know the individuals saying these things.

Again has anyone seen the Bible produce oil? Has the container been depleted before a church service so in fact the oil would replace while the service was going on. What does the Bible say about those who seek after signs?

What? So you bring the tub into the church and the ministry puts a piece of tape at the oil level. 2 hours later all in attendance can see that oil continues to produce. Or you present video you have taken of the same same scenario again so all in attendance can see this miraculous event happening.

Perhaps. I think Christians in general would be wise to skeptical of unwarranted superstition. I have gained a lot of respect for the gifts present in Pentecostal churches, which I do really believe to be present there. I just get turned off when I hear about pentecostal and charismatic preachers selling healing water and stuff like this oil leaking bible. That’s a hurdle I have to get over, I guess. Trying not to see ALL charismatic preachers as representative of the whole movement within the church. There are some real good preachers I’ve seen coming from the Pentecostal movement but then you have the Peter Popoffs and whatnot
