Every conscientious bible student knows that John the Baptist began his ministry in Tiberius’ 15th year. Turn to Luke 3:1-3.

Luke Chapter 3 (KJV)

1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

The year Tiberius began his reign is disputed. Some say 12 AD and others claim 14 AD. However, the Scriptures do not say at what point in Tiberius’ 15th year John began his ministry. Was it early in Tiberius’ 15th year, middle of his 15th year, or at the end of his 15th year? Then, how long into John’s ministry did Jesus make his first public appearance? Was it three months? Six months? Or a year or more? How long after that did John lose his life to Herod?

So, what part of Tiberius’ 15th year did John begin his ministry? Did Jesus begin his ministry in Tiberius’ 15th year or 16th year?
