In 1 John 4:2b, what does John mean by ἐν σαρκὶ ἐληλυθότα? “In flesh [and blood]” or “among humans/men”? And why is this such an important issue?
Please provide primary source(s) for any historical references.
By the way, my own view is that “John” wrote his letter to correct various misrepresentations of Jesus, such as saying that he was divine or an angel (the message of the antichrists) which he considered idolatry.

It’s the account of the creation of the physical heavens and earth. Thus it must be describing physical light. I believe the background microwave radiation is evidence of this light which has decreased in frequency due to the acceleration of the expansion of the universe which began on the second day of creation.

Philip Williams Brother Philip!!! I just have to be contrarian… I know fundamentalism takes Genesis 1 literally, but Genesis 1 is clearly a vision (and Moses was in the Spirit hovering above the waters) so unless visions should always be taken literally, your interpretation is presumptuous.

The work of the old creation was finishing after Day 6. The Father and Son are now working on the New Creation.

God said “let there be light” and there was light.
We must stop trying to find natural explanations for God’s supernatural work.
Often it seems that believers fail to understand the incomprehensible, one time, supernatural character of the Creation week.
God created everything out of nothing!
It is no problem for Him to create light without a physical source in the material universe.
