Dispensationalism – the concept that Israel and the Church are different and that Israel still has a future in God’s plan was refined by many bible students such as the proto Pentecostal Edward Irving and James Nelson Darby of the Plymouth Brethren. It has always been an integral part of the Full Gospel which sometimes has beef termed the 4 fold gospel (Foursquare ; Four Cardinal truths, etc.)
One of those 4 has always been the imminent Rapture. This is supported by a dispensational (literalist) approach to scripture.
It is not limited to Baptist at all.
Pentecostals like perry stone are usually dispensational to one degree or another without even knowing it.
