Troy Day I just see so many Churches calling for fast but cannot scripturally understand I am seeking the truth. I desire to fast and as I see other churches around me follow the 21 day fast The Holyspirit takes me to Christ words Fasting
16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

JameyJoy Doss We are not meant to fast
Daniel is in the Old Testament which we don’t adhere to anymore. You’re right in not fasting. Don’t be led astray.

Jesus doesn’t bless you or honour you because you fast. Don’t be deceived.

Troy Day Three Churches in Carroll County GA all three pastors are friends of mine. 1 a 3000 member Church, second a 100 member Church and third one a 35 member church. All fasted. My wife and I attended the North Ga Revival two weeks ago and they were talking about that was how their revival started. And they were I. Their last week of fasting. Of Course Free chapel which is now both Church of God and Congregational Holiness. There are several people I work with it seems to be the norm that their churches call for a fast.

Just this week. I spoke with a person at my Job in Carrollton,Ga and said to him you look like you been losing some weight he said he had been fasting per his churches open commitment to do so. I asked him to ask his wife’s uncle in whom I know to let me know the scriptures that allow us to call for such a fast. That if it was biblical I wanted to understand it better.

JameyJoy Doss so your basic overview is based on one county somewhere in the USA
      ?
Bible belt deep south or something ?

HOW do you see this trend affecting the rest of the world ? We are all aware of Jentzens push for fasting but that fad was 10yrs ago when he started it He is on another more political trend just about now involving the White House Apart from that your 2nd paragraph in your last comment above is SPOT ON

Troy Day I am sure it is not affecting the world. I believe if used properly that fasting allows us to hear from God as it is used to consecrate ones self to God and his calling by his spirit to do so. It was a topic but like you said I think it is a fad. Jentzens church still does it. It’s like it’s the I. Thing to do. And honestly if it is not scriptural and if I cannot justify it from the word of God. I believe it does more harm to the individuals and when churches call for fasting that is not done according to biblical reasoning. Examples: Daniel was not fasting he was mourning. Where there is fasting in the Bible, there was prayer, sackcloth and ashes, contrite and hungry hearts. Would love to see a sack cloth and ashes service l’m sure that would be popular. ?. https://catholicphilly.com/2016/02/news/national-news/new-initiatives-aim-to-help-catholics-enrich-prayer-giving-during-lent/
