What is your interpretive reading 1 Corinthians 3:1-23?
Please Highlighting key insights on ministry leadership by Timothy Carter

John Kissinger [08/17/2015 7:48 PM]
Does it explain that until you are a new wine skin, you cannot hold new wine? As long as you are still controlled by sin, you cannot understand spiritual principles. It is by the Spirit that we build on the foundation, that is Jesus Christ.

James L Alldredge [08/17/2015 9:08 PM]
1st principle – Ministers must minister to their flocks as they actually are, not as we hope they would be. 2nd Principle – Ministers must compliment, not compete with the ministries of others. 3rd Principle – Ministers will answer only for their own ministry, not the ministry of others. 4th Principle – There is a distinction between that which temporary and that which is eternal, our ministries should lean heavily towards the Eternal. 5th Principle – Worldy wisdom as it applies to ministry effectiveness is limited, education is good, revelation is best

John Kissinger [08/17/2015 10:24 PM]
3:1 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ – speaking about the need of sanctification as a second work of grace after being saved AND adopted (chidlren/infants) AND becoming part of the church 3:2 “for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready” – talking about sanctification as preparation for the eternal glory 3:3 3 You are still worldly – talking to believers, members of the church who thou saved, adopted and regenerated STILL need to experience some sanctification from the worldly within them that brings worldly in church 3:9 “For we are co-workers in God’s service” – talking about a free will synergism with God by our own personal choice issing 3:15 “If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved” – clearly what’s spoken so far in the chapter is NOT salvation but sanctification which produces works of faith in the believer. Answers the question if you can be saved without being sanctified Charles Page Timothy

Charles Page [08/17/2015 10:38 PM]
it is not brothers and sisters nor it it brethren (as plural) He is again addressing a brother. You have to read this text as addressed to a brother who is a leader but his leadership is carnal and faulty. Do you know any leaders like that today. The whole Corinthian community gets tossed under the bus (ie. John MacArthur-#strangefire) but it is not the community it is their leader!!!

John Kissinger [08/17/2015 10:41 PM]
let’s read the text again: “3:1 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you” It sure seems like it says “Brothers and sisters”

Timothy Carter [08/17/2015 11:08 PM]
B your post on 3:15 is excellent insights in sanctification ? Johnson do you want to join the fun? How do you see this leadership style of Paul today? Where do we see it? What does it look like?

John Kissinger [08/18/2015 5:51 AM]
hope this helps some your seminary assignment 🙂

Lennie Marx [08/18/2015 11:09 AM]
Timothy this is an Epistle, if applied correctly it applies to those who have already been immersed in the unaltered form of Acts 2:38 but remain in an environment of sin, so they need to return to where they were at the time they were immersed in for the remission of sin and acknowledged the L-rd Jesus Christ as the only foundation of truth. And follow His teaching as well as those of the Apostles He sent! Come out from amount them that are trapped in sin! Peace Be!

Charles Page [08/18/2015 11:19 AM]
study the Greek word from which brethren is derived, “brother” singular masculine -he is writing to the leadership of the church and naturally you would know that the “leadership” don’t like this exegesis. If Paul was addressing a letter to John MacArthur he would say, “brother”

Well he has gotten a letter from Paul and MacA has failed to exegete rather he has modified the Word. MacA thinks God is addressing 1/2 billion Pentecostals when in fact Paul is addressing him. “Brother” I would not have you ignorant. Wow that is rich –think I will post that on my page.

Lennie Marx [08/18/2015 11:24 AM]
Greek is a sin language, Hebrew is the Holy Tongue! Enjoy holiness! Leave sin to the interpreters! Peace be!

Charles Page [08/18/2015 11:25 AM]
English then is profane, yes???

Lennie Marx [08/18/2015 11:27 AM]
All languages other the Hebrew don’t reach the level of the Holy Tongue, check out Babylon and what occurred there! Just saying!

John Kissinger [08/18/2015 11:31 AM]
Lennie Marx Strongly disagree! The trilingual dogma (Greek, Latin and Hebrew) was defeated long time ago in church history as unorthodox and anti-canonical …

Charles Page [08/18/2015 11:36 AM]
pre-Noahic language was perfect for communicating truth- all languages after were babel! at best diluted and corrupted

John Kissinger [08/18/2015 11:37 AM]
Charles Page did you mean pre-Adamic? Rick Wadholm Jr

Charles Page [08/18/2015 11:38 AM]
no – there were no pre Adamic languages!!!

John Kissinger [08/18/2015 11:39 AM]
If there was one Rick Wadholm Jr has studied it. Got pre-Adamic? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtviSwIPjQQ
