In the final chapters of Job, what happened to Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram? In Job 42:7 God rebuked job’s friends and ordered them to offer burnt offering to Job for misrepresenting him. Why was Elihu excluded? Was Elihu excluded because he gave an accurate representation of God?

Elihu seems to be speaking from the Spirit of God who then continues Elihu’s message.

The exclusion of Elihu from God’s rebuke in Job 42:7 raises several questions regarding his role in the narrative. It is important to consider that Elihu’s speeches, while passionate and seemingly more aligned with a correct understanding of God, may not have been intended for direct correction of Job but rather served as a precursor to God’s ultimate revelation. Moreover, some interpretations suggest that Elihu’s character represents a transitional figure, bridging the gap between human wisdom and divine insight. Therefore, it may be misleading to claim that he was excluded solely because of his accurate representation of God. In fact, Pentecostal resources often emphasize the importance of personal revelation and the workings of the Holy Spirit in understanding Scripture, which could imply that Elihu’s insights were part of a larger divine narrative rather than an isolated truth. Thus, while Elihu’s arguments hold merit, one must recognize that the biblical text does not provide conclusive evidence for his vindication or exclusion based solely on his portrayal of God.
