Peter 1:2 KJV — Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Is sanctification the holy grail of the Christian life
1. In uncommon virtues faith hope charity
2. In holy passion for the things of God. That first love
3. In turning from every sin and deliverance from evil
4. It should be mentioned sanctification is denied to the casual mind, the lovers of this world, and the unfaithful
If sanctification is commanded and enjoined to the life that is pleasing to God it ought to be preached and sought.
The LORD is ever Jehovah M’Kaddesh
How can the minister of Christ encourage and facilitate such a quest? Without being too dramatic “the quest for the holy grail. ” The quest for holiness purity and the conscrated life. Usefulness faithfulness, soldiering for Jesus Christ his Cross and crown!

    Guest;

    There are several things here that, IN MY OPINION, are taken out of context.
    The word Elect =to vote, to make a choice, according to the Foreknowledge= God already having all knowledge, in this passage meaning the knowledge of God the Father.
    Through the sanctificstion of the Spirit= to make holy, free from evil or the opposite of life.

    Obedience = to the words of God, not what men think the words of God say that they should be obedient to.

    Sprinkling here seems to reference the words of the Savior, as to the Blood covenant made between Israel and God,(Ex 24:5-8; HEB 12:24)

    1.Virtues of God are never common. Only the world thinks so.

    2./3./4.Sanctification is denied to no one, in fact God and the Savior commanded that we must sanctity ourselves (Lev 11:44;(20:7) sanctification comes from being obedient to the covenants made.

    One way for a minister to teach/preach/encourage others is to do it like the Savior, FREE OF CHARGE.

    The words of God and the Savior, God’s Priesthood is not for sale, nor can it be bought for money, gold or silver. It is free to anyone seeking.

    Guest;

    The casual mind cannot be saved nor the lovers of this world be sanctified. If you do not repent and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ you will be denied and you will be rejected when the Almighty God calls your soul into account.
    As to your remarks on the priesthood being for sale you have the wrong man.

    I’ll agree. Sanctification isn’t preached near enough. Good word.

    Elect those who elect to favorably respond to the Call of the Holy Spirit, are the elect of God.according to the foreknowledge of God The Father, through Sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the Blood Of Jesus Christ. ( pertains to the fact that Holy Spirit Sanctifies us on the basis of the Finished Work Of Christ, where our Faith must reside; as the Cross is everything concerning Salvation ,it is also everything concerning Sanctification) Grace unto you, and Peace be Multiplied. ( Both attributes come through the Cross, and will continue to multiply as long as our Faith is firmly anchored in the Cross Of Christ. ). My easier term would be called out ones , set aside for the Masters use or I would say a for sure Christian.

      Don’t you see in this chapter how many ignored the call. Only those who responded were chosen.

      12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

      13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

      14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

      Troy Day That is an additional matter, similar to the parable of catching all kinds of fish and having to throw some away. Jesus is saying just what we see. Some respond to the call though for the wrong motives. Judas was one of those. But the larger context here is the matter of many called, few chosen, which is just what we see.

      Troy Day major theme of the chapter:

      “The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.”
      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:2-14‬ ‭
