A FEW years ago, the fourth blood moon of the 2014-2015 Tetrad occurred on Sept. 27, 2015. Some had seen the blood moons as harbingers of disaster, but the Scriptures speak of blood moons as a sign of the outpouring of the Spirit and salvation (Acts 2:17-21). The blood moon is also a sign of overcoming evil, as the moon, symbolic of believers (Ps. 89:37) is covered by the blood (Rev. 12:11). The fact that the tabernacles blood moon of 2015 occurred in the constellation Pisces (the fish), the sign of the church, reminds us that tabernacles is about the ingathering of the church to spend eternity with God. Jeevitha and Kamboj were cared for by staff members at the Gospel for Asia Bridge of Hope center they attended, but once they left the walls of the center, there was no peace in their lives. Not only had substance abuse taken over their father, but also every time there was a half or full moon, evil spirits controlled him.

When the Bridge of Hope staff members heard about what was happening to the children and their mother at home, they visited the family to share Christ and pray with them. In answer to their earnest prayers, God delivered Aniij from the bondage of demons and his addictions. A blood moon, or lunar eclipse, occurs when the moon moves into the shadow of the Earth. The sunlight is refracted through the Earth’s atmosphere, giving the moon the reddish color which causes it to be called a blood moon.

In the Bible, the moon is the faithful witness in the sky, symbolic of the believers, (Ps. 89:37), while the sun symbolizes Christ the bridegroom and champion (Ps. 19:4-5). The apostle Peter, quoting from the prophet Joel, included blood moons in the signs of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the time of salvation before Christ returns (Acts 2:17-21). The red color of the moon reminds us that we are covered by the blood of the Lamb and have overcome Satan by our witness and the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 12:11).

The blood moon occurs in the constellation Cancer, which is the 11th chapter of the Star Bible, during the 11th month of the Hebrew sacred year, Shebat. In ancient times, the constellation Cancer was known in Arabic as Khan (“Inn”) and Cer (“Encompassing”) and in Hebrew as “To Hold,” both names which signify God’s holding place for His people in heaven. The eclipse will take place 7 degrees away from the Praesepe star cluster, which means “Multitude”. The name of the Hebrew 11th month, Shebat, is not of Hebrew origin and is similar to the Chaldee word for “Tribe”. Thus, the blood moon in Cancer during Shebat is reminding us that the blood-bought church is the tribe of God, and the multitude of believers will be with Him in heaven.

This year, the full moon of tabernacles will also be in the sign of the church, Pisces. The two fish of Pisces are joined together by a cord known as the band, which represents the unity of the church as is symbolized by a bright star in Pisces called Okda, meaning “The United.” We are reminded of Christ’s prayer in John 17:20-23 that the church be united. Interestingly the only planet visible with the full moon in the evening is Saturn (the ruler) which symbolizes Christ’s rule over all, which is also symbolized by tabernacles.
