I have heard people make condemning remarks, as it relates to churches hiring security guards.
Let’s be very clear on this point.
It is biblical to have security guards on Church property.
Do a word study on the terms “GateKeeper”, “Doorkeeper”, and “Porter”.
They guarded the gates of the house of Yahweh (1 Chronicles 9:23), closing and opening them at the proper times (1 Chronicles 9:27) and preventing the unclean from entering the sacred enclosure (2 Chronicles 23:19); they had charge of the sacred vessels and of the free-will offerings (2 Chronicles 31:14), and dwelt in the chambers about the temple (1 Chronicles 9:27). They were Levites, and came in from the Levitical villages every seventh day for service in their turn (1 Chronicles 9:25). Their office was honorable, ranking with the singers, after the priests and Levites (Ezra 2:42 1 Chronicles 15:18).

It stinks that America has degenerated to the point where this is a thing. A guy that I used to minister with was gunned down in the pulpit in mid-sermon by a deranged man back in 2009. That and the incident at Ted Haggard’s old church is what got church people thinking we need to protect those serving God. Even so come quickly Jesus!
