In an online statement, Bethel’s Bill Johnson, Kris Vallotton, Dann Farrelly, and Danny Silk owned up to “mistakes and failures” when handling allegations of sexual harassment brought to them by one of Bolz’s former team members and “evidence that Shawn was using social media to get information for false words of knowledge.”
“We take responsibility for the fact that we did not properly and fully bring discipline, closure, or clear and timely communication regarding the gravity of our concerns with Shawn Bolz. This was someone we platformed to preach and prophesy in our house and with our teams on many occasions up until 2019,” the leaders wrote.
“The truth is, we have hurt and scared people because we did not tell the truth enough, early enough, long enough, or loud enough, and this is a just criticism. Our hearts are grieved, and embarrassed. When we sin or mess up publicly as we have, it’s important to take responsibility publicly, to listen as people share their frustration, sadness, fears, and corrections,” it continued.
The statement comes days after Christian apologist Mike Winger posted a nearly 6-hour video titled, “The Skeletons in Bethel’s Closet are Now Going to Speak.” In it, he details evidence that points to repeated unethical prophetic practices such as accessing publicly available personal information and presenting it as divine information as well as sexual misconduct that spans decades.

I have become very convinced that Bethel (as in the church/ministry from California) is straight up bad news. I would be happy to share how I came to this conclusion with anyone who is interested. There is very strong evidence of this.
Obviously Bethel is extremely popular and influential, and if you attend a Pentecostal or Charismatic church there are almost certainly people there who listen to them (unless the church leadership is actively speaking against them)
I am younger person in a church with mostly older people (I mean much older than me) and I’m not in a leadership position. I’m not really sure what is appropriate for me if someone tells me they are listening to Bethel or I see them sharing stuff on Facebook, etc.
I suppose I could just politely tell them my opinion, but even the polite version can be interpreted as pretty harsh and some may think it is divisive.
Should I run my thoughts by my pastor before I start sharing them with people in the church?
Should I just keep my mouth shut?( I have done this before but it doesn’t seem right)
By the way, regardless of your thoughts on Bethel, there’s a general principal here that I’m most interested in.
Any thoughts are appreciated. And again if you want to get into it about Bethel I’m happy to discuss it further, but that’s not the main point of this post.

Don’t be deceived! Bethel is a cult, plain and simple, built around claims of the supernatural and, like the LDS, claims Jesus as it’s first practitioner. The Mormons also had tongues and still has prophets. They built in Salt Lake City. Bethel builds in Redding.
As in the case of the LDS and other cults, Bethel uses traditional Christian language. But like the other cults, it often means something very different than their traditional meanings. Bethel is not about Jesus. It’s about them.
