Is there any legitimate reason given by scholars as to why Luke uniquely adds the account of Jesus healing the ear of Malchus after it being severed off?

In Luke 22:50-51, it is written,

50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. 51 But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him. Berean Study Bible

Did Luke fabricate this story, or is it only added because Luke was a physician and it appealed to his field of work?

Because Luke was a physician by trade, and it would have been of particular interest to him. That’s my guess.

Dean C. Trivandian It is interesting to conjecture where Dr. Luke got his medical training. There were important Greek medical centers in Pergamum, Tarsus, Athens, Alexandria in Egypt, Berytus (Beirut in Lebanon), Laodicea ad Mare (“by the sea,” Latakia in Syria), and the Asklepion shrine on the island of Cos that was established in honor of Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine. Interestingly, Luke did not record anything about this medical center or what transpired on the island when he and the Apostle Paul landed on the island on their way to Jerusalem at the end of Paul’s third missionary journey. All Dr. Luke recorded was: “And it came to pass that, that when we had departed from them [the Ephesian elders] and set sail, running a straight course we came to Cos, the following day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara” (Acts 21:1).

      Troy Day
But not in that way but in tis way.

“On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised (for he who worked through Peter for his apostolic ministry to the circumcised worked also through me for mine to the Gentiles), and when James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.” Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭

Philip Williams there is absolutely NO internal or otherwise evidence to any of what you said – pure speculation as usual HOWEVER the music HWY64 is being built with Swaggart’s song and others to be royalty sang

Troy Day the internal evidence is the Petrine style and authority for the Hebrew Christians.

      Troy Day Luke 1

1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled[a] among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

Troy Day Luke wrote his gospel while in Jerusalem for the two years Paul was imprisoned at Caesarea. I believe it was written for Paul’s defense, which is why Acts ends so abruptly with their arrival at Rome.
