Inheritance of the Elect
by Pastor Arnold Murray
The Bible tells us we are rich. Some might question this fact in light of their worldly possessions; however, the Bible isn’t always referring to worldly possessions when teaching us that we are rich. We are going to analyze the word inheritance in this lecture. Many become rich in worldly possessions as the result of an inheritance. There are businesses whose sole purpose is to locate lost friends and relatives who are named in a will and stand to gain an inheritance. My point is you must claim this inheritance or lose it.
What makes us rich? There are seven churches mentioned in the book of Revelation. Only two of them, Smyrna and Philadelphia, were without fault in the eyes of Christ. The most simple way to check out your theology is to read what Christ said to the seven churches. If your basic beliefs do not parallel those of the two churches Christ found not wanting, you may wish to reconsider your theological beliefs. Christ is speaking to the church of Smyrna in the following verses.
Rev 2:8-9 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
The English word “rich” is translated from the Greek word “plousios” (ploo’-see-os). “Plousios” may also be translated “abounding with”. Christ is telling the church of Smyrna they are abounding with truth and are rich because they also understand the blasphemy of the Kenites claiming to be of the bloodline of Juda. Those that abound with this knowledge today please God very much. They possess the Key of David.
Rev 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Christ is speaking of the same trials He talked about in Mark 13:9. Those elect that remain faithful unto Him unto death will receive eternal life. Your Father has given you a rich inheritance. Will you be in a position to claim it by knowing His Word and His Truth? Let’s follow up on this word “inheritance” a little further.
Mark 12:1-2 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
God created the earth and placed Adam there to till the soil. “At the season” God sent a servant to collect fruit from mankind.
Mark 12:3-5 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled. And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
These are the prophets God sent in succession, from the beginning through the last prophet before Christ, John the Baptist.
Mark 12:6-7 Having yet therefore one son, his well beloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
These husbandmen were the Kenites that would scream “Crucify Him”. With the true Heir out of the way, they could steal the inheritance. Study God’s Word so you know your inheritance and claim it boldly.
Mark 12:8-10 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
Christ was asking them if they had read the Old Testament where these exact words were written.
Mark 12:11 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?
It is marvelous in our eyes because the sacrifice Christ made on the cross gave us eternal life. That is your inheritance. You don’t have to carry the weight of your sins around with you. Get rid of them. Tell Him you love Him and ask for forgiveness. Let’s turn to Hebrews and continue our study concerning inheritance. How does this inheritance make one rich, or abounding with, even in the present time?
Heb 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
A covenant might be thought of as a will. The Bible consists of two wills, the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Heb 9:2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
Through this ceremony one could be symbolically cleansed and made whole.
Heb 9:3-4 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
The manna in the ark of the covenant is symbolic of God’s willingness to feed you, if you are in the covenant. Aaron, the first Levitical Priest, carried forth God’s Word and the tables, or tablets, which were the writings of the covenant.
Heb 9:5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
You may now speak particularly, because you have ears to hear. Lucifer was a cherub. As it is written in Ezekiel chapter 28, God made Lucifer more attractive than the rest. and He favored him. But Satan blew it. He wanted to sit on the mercy seat. Satan wanted to be messiah. He will have one more opportunity to play the roll of Christ, but he will only be the antichrist that you will stand and witness against. Jesus made it clear in Mark 13 that a fake is coming first. That is why the cornerstone will he a stumbling block to most. They won’t know they are worshiping the antichrist rather than Messiah.
Heb 9:6-8 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
The way into the Holiest of all was not made available to all men until the second covenant which is Jesus Christ.
Heb 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
The gifts and sacrifices could not make the high priest perfect. Only through the blood of Christ and repentance is man perfect. At that moment of perfection your conscience is able to feel the Holy Spirit.
Heb 9:10-11 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Why not of this man-made building? Christ is the tabernacle.
Heb 9:12-14 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
The perfection you are able to obtain through the blood of Christ allows one to purge their spirit of dead works, or the old ways, and serve the living God. Sharpen up for me here.
Heb 9:15-16 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
For the conditions of a will to become effective the person that wrote the will must first die. How does our inheritance make us rich, or abounding with, today? Christ, the Testator, died in the flesh for our sins. Are you receiving your share of the inheritance? Do you know what the inheritance is? If you have read the Father’s letter, you know. Those of you that are receiving the inheritance are rich and abounding with now.. ..today. God promised an inheritance to the elect, or the Zodak, in Ezekiel. Let’s turn there in closing. This is your inheritance.
Ezek 44:28 And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession.
It is impossible for the human mind to grasp the significance of this verse. This is God speaking. He owns everything and He is saying the Zodak possess Him.
Ezek 44:29 They shall eat the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.
There is your inheritance, if you are one of the elect. We are rich. We are abounding with today. Thank the Father.
