[First posted on Facebook as a Word for 2009.  It still applies today. Jesus said of John that he was “a burning and shining lamp.” As forerunners, we are called to be burning and shining lamps. I went to bed meditating on these things, and woke up with a prophetic word going through my mind. The Lord gave me the following for 2009 and beyond:]

“He was a burning and shining light” (John 5:35)

This year will not be like other years says the Lord, for it is a new day for the world and for my Body, and I am doing a new thing. Have you not seen it coming? There has been a shaking in your life, the church and the world. Have you not seen it coming? There is change, some for better and some for worse. And My eternal plan rolls on, accelerating as we approach the end of the age.

Have you seen it yet? You are privileged to live in the times of glory. I am preparing a glorious bride, fit for My Son. That remnant that remains true, that abides in Me, stays close to Me, trusts in Me, and lives for Me, those are the ones I will use to bring My glory to the earth.

They that remain awake and alert, their lamps full in the midst of a darkening world, they will see the bright light in their hearts, they will see the bright light in the saints, they will see the bring light of my Kingdom manifesting in the midst of a darkened world.

So lay aside all that distracts your from going forth in Me. Now is the time, not next year or some future time; now is the time to grow up in Me, to spend much time in My presence, to step out in your calling, to reach out, to be bold, to listen closely and believe the abilities with which I now empower you. Let Me stretch you. It will not hurt, for My healing presence resides within. It will be fulfilling and with much joy that you see the fruit I will bring forth from you if you allow Me this year.

Choose faith, not fear. Do not hesitate; do not wait; do not procrastinate. Only believe. I am raising up a mighty army, yay, a new army of sold out, Spirit-filled, courageous warriors to spread My Kingdom over the earth, cutting off the enemy and establishing My Word. You are not strong and courageous, you say. So said many of the fathers of ages past. Yet, I commanded forth the blessing, the boldness and the power in their lives, and they chose to believe and obey.

John the Baptist was forerunner of the first coming; you are a forerunner of His second coming – be that burning and shining light

Will you believe and obey right now, as the year begins, that I love you, have called you, and have empowered you to succeed as My voice, My hands, My feet, My prophet, My priest, and My king to effect My Kingdom now?  Will you let Me use you to bring in the lost, to raise up harvesters, and to be forerunners of a great outpouring that will change your culture, your society, for all who would change; to speak forth My Word that will separate out the chaff from the wheat?

Do not hesitate and say I don’t know enough, I’m not trained enough, I’m not spiritual enough, for in this day you have My knowledge and My Spirit within to guide you, direct you and build you into not what you think you should be but, rather, what I’ve called you to be.

Have you not seen Me shaking My people, My churches, the world?  Compromise and carnality are to be no more among My people. Chose life, and let go of death. Love the world, but separate yourself from the love of the things of this world. I will give you all you need, equip you, and make you whole, if you’ll let Me, if you’ll give in, if you’ll let go. Put all your trust in Me, and listen to My voice of confirmation in your heart.

Now is the time to be Mine, wholly. Be Mine, I say, be Mine. Right now, all the way, be Mine, be radically Mine. Forget what the world would say, you are not of the world, you are Mine. So be Mine.
