**SOUL SINS WILL DIE – Dead to sin, live unto righteousness**

“For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die” ( Ezekiel 18:4).

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him” (Ezekiel 18:20).

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).

The consequences of sin become apparent in chapter 4 of Genesis: envy, arrogance, rebellion, murder, punishment, separation from family, and separation from God. Adam and Eve’s firstborn son, Cain, out of jealousy, murders his brother Abel and loses everything. Adam and Eve lose them both. Cain’s descendants amplify his sinfulness. Still, God provides help for Eve in childbirth and even protects Cain in his wandering. Eve remains a woman of faith, even in her loss. And the sons of Seth, born after the murder of Abel, become a people who proclaim the name of the Lord.
