For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Mattews 12:50 KJV
Did Jesus’ listeners understand which father he was talking about?
Troy Day
It’s an excellent question—Jesus often spoke with multiple layers of meaning. In context, his listeners likely understood “Father” to mean God, especially since phrases like “your Father in heaven” appear throughout the Gospels. But there was also confusion at times, like in John 8, where some thought he was referring to Abraham or even questioned his parentage. The depth of his words invited people to look beyond surface meanings and challenged their understanding of spiritual family. @followers Jared Cheshire @highlight
