First up, this is not about whether the verse is an addition or not. Let’s assume for a moment it is not and has sufficient authenticity to remain.
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. KJV
I notice that the verse omits the ‘Son’. There is then ample biblical support for the word, the spirit and the Father to be One God!
This is an even better verse for NON-trinitarian believers, as it makes no claim for the son being part of this ONE GOD. (If required this support can be provided, but could be part of an answer)
Is there reason to assume (based on the immediate context) this is meant to convey a trinitarian dogma? Or was something else intended?
