Jeremiah Chapters 40,41,42
Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard of the king of Babylon said, “The LORD your God has pronounced this doom on this place. Now the LORD has brought it, and has done just as He said. Because you people have sinned against the LORD, and not obeyed His voice, therefore this thing has come upon you…” Then he offered Jeremiah the opportunity to go with him to Babylon or stay in Israel with Gedaliah, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah or to dwell wherever he wished. Moreover Johanna and the captains of the forces that were in the fields came to Gedaliah at Mizpah, and said that Baalis the king of the Amorites had sent Ishmael to murder him, but Gedaliah didn’t believe them. Ishmael was of the royal family and of the officers of the king came to Gedaliah at Mizpah and murdered him and all the Jews and also the Chaldeans who were with him and escaped, leaving behind those he had taken captive from Gedaliah. The captains of the forces and the remnants decided to go to Egypt for the fear of the Chaldeans’ reprisal for Ishmael’s insurrection. Then they came to Jeremiah and requested that he inquire from the LORD whether or not to go Egypt where they had set their heart and promised to obey the word of the LORD. Ten days later the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah and he told them to remain in the land of Israel and not to go to Egypt. Fear God BUT never fear your enemies regardless of their visible power and you will triumph, in Jesus name. AMEN!!!
