STRENGTHENED AND EMPOWERED: HE IN ME AND I IN HIM

Ray E Horton

Thinking about the two aspects of our relationship with our God: “He who ABIDES IN ME, and I IN HIM, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Christ abides or lives within us. Something even the prophets of old never foresaw: “… the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

Strengthened

We can walk and talk with Him at all times, and that gives such strength

Dwelling within us, our relationship is intimate. It’s like sitting down with Him in our living room to converse (prayer), where we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. It’s like when Adam walked with God in the cool of the evening. We can walk and talk with Him at all times, and that gives such strength.

Empowered

Literally Seated with Him

Then, from the other perspective, we are “IN HIM,” for He has “raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephians 2:6). We sit with Him at the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20).

This is literal and not just positional. Our spirits are united, and if we use our spiritual eyes to see, we can see with His eyes from the heavenly throne and use our delegated authority, in Jesus name. We have received the power. From there, we join the universal church of saints in heaven and on earth in worshiping Him.

What a privilege and blessing it is to have such a relationship with our God, who is not only our Lord, but our friend.

In the one place I hug Him and rest my head on His chest. In the other, I bow down in adoration,  but then get up on fire, as a co-laborer in His Kingdom in bringing about His plans and purposes, bearing much fruit.
