After ministering to a hurting Facebook friend, the Lord inspired me in rhyme with a summary of what I shared with him. I thought it might be helpful to some others as well. It’s pretty basic, but reassuring that with repentance, one can get up and go on in His love and power:
YOU TRIED, YOU FAILED
You tried, you failed to live for God.
The world, your flesh, the enemy,
Stole your zeal and good intents,
Conformed to world’s idolatry.
Oh that each and every man
Would know the mercies of our Lord.
Though faithless, we retain His love,
and grace that we could not afford.
Forgiveness given undeserved
The blood of Jesus did provide.
He draws us near, to His side,
When all we want to do is hide.
Jesus came to set you free
From fear and every selfish way
The Father’s love brought Him here
To bring you out to light of day.
“You tried to live right on your own
Struggling with your sin and shame.
You failed, but I have set you free,
Because you’ve called upon My name.
“Trust in Me, you are my child;
Never will I let you go.
I came in love and peace for you
Saved you from eternal foe.
“My goodness it will draw you back
And keep you steadfast all day long.
If you’ll put your trust in Me,
My love for you will keep you strong.
“Leave now condemnation’s prison.
Your future’s door is open now.
Step through with no looking back.
I’ll keep you blameless; that’s My vow.”
Does not the Lord each promise keep,
Conditions met at Calvary;
Resurrection life and power
Is now your true destiny.
