The Church of God as the body of Christ -T. S. Payne 1922 Evangel “Christ has named his church the Church of God and it is the greatest governing body on the face of the earth.” what are your thoughts?

It’s true that the early CoG folks thought that the Church of God was the divine name but in recent years the local congregations have been rushing to rename their church. Many of these names are not well chosen and must leave the public wondering why such a name would be chosen. Still it’s happened and there’s no going back now and it leaves one wondering where all these confusing names will in time lead the church.

The Church in that I mean the Blood Bought Christians is The Church. To put it like I see it Christ is The Church.

He does mention The Church Of God in the Bible. But I don’t think He means Denominations. He said Upon This Rock I’ll Build My Church. And He is The Rock. And I know He is The Head Of The Church. But He’s also The Rock.
